Title: Help Me Make Something Move
K-62 - September 22, 2004 01:43 AM (GMT)
I made a new banner and I want to make the grass move, can anyone help me?

Hmmm this would be rather difficult of a task. Did you use brushes for the grass?
Also, you're gonna .gif the final copy right? Cuz it looks great; all it needs is the transparency.

Yes the grass is a brush and I will .gif it. Well, everything but the Sniper is brush.

Hmm okay. I assume you have ImageReady? Duplicate the grass layer, and free-transform it. Work around with it, give it a little rotation, erase some portions here and there, until you get a smooth transitioning feel to the two layers of grass. Then, with ImageReady, animate it :\

Alright, thanks. I'll do it in the mornig when Im more awake.
Blade - September 22, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
Yeah good idea; it'll be someewhat time consuming and tedious.
Just make sure when you animate it, everything's in order. You should have two layers if you do only two layers of animation; one should have the before grass and everything else and the second with the after grass and everything else. I assume you're used to ImageReady :\
If you want to, you can do 3 layers or more, but it'll get really tough by then.

The more layers the better the animation, you can then make the grass move more slowly and not so plain, makes it more life-like (that's if you do it well). But it also make the file size larger, so it's a bit of a trade-off..
Blade - September 22, 2004 04:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah but you could still make it a good animation with about 4-5 grass layers - have them go back & forth within that amount. It still would look just fine :)

It's pretty hard, I cant rotate with out rotating the other frames.
Blade - September 22, 2004 08:30 PM (GMT)
Hmmm that's odd. First, make sure you're on the right layer. Then, go to Edit > Transform/Free Trasnform and do that. If you go to image and then rotate or w/e, it'll rotate the whole thing.
K-62 - September 23, 2004 01:35 AM (GMT)
I did that. It rotates the layer on every frame, before and after.

You need to click off the layers that you don't want visible on the individual frames. It's a bit of a chore, but I think that's probably how you can get it to work.
Blade - September 23, 2004 04:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah. You want to include the sky background and the Gun Sniper on every layer. On the first layer, put the base grass layer. Next layer, replace the base grass with the next frame in the moving grass, and so on. This is ImageReady animation layers, not layers in general.
