Title: Server Issue

sauron - April 11, 2007 06:17 AM (GMT)
Does dx only work on tomcat? Anyone with a real host knows that tomcat is a piece of crap and no affordable hosting is on a windows machine. I see over and over again people who cannot get passed the index page because nothing works unless it's the exact setup that you devs have which i'm sorry to say is lame. Is there any plans to actually port dx to a real web server that runs on unix?

Sauron,
DimensioneX runs on all webservers that can run Java servlets. I have tested it on other servers such as IBM WebSphere, Blazix to mention some. However, Tomcat is the worldwide standard for Java servers around.

All our documentation is based on Tomcat so on other servers you have to adapt instructions. This may require good knowledge of Java.

By the way, if you are about to ask "Does it run on Apache" (a very common question) you are completely out of focus - DimensioneX is based on Java and Apache does not handle Java objects at all.
