Title: PLEASE READ
Description: Announcements by the Admins
Jaime - September 7, 2004 09:22 PM (GMT)
Well everyone, I recently found that I needed a place to announce things, so here it is.
1. The Olympics is over. I've left the area up for over a week now, but I think it's time to say goodbye to it. So this Friday, Sept 10, 2004, the Olympics section of our board will officially be removed. Thank you to faithrss, Moonlight and Lynn in helpimg me make our special Olympics feature a success (even though not a lot of people posted ;)).
2. As most of you know, Smallville's new season is rapidly approaching with our lovely Jensen involved. So, please do feel free to drop in now and again for updates. If not, go straight to JRAU, our lovely "sister" site for all the details.
http://www.jraunlimited.com3. If you havne't noticed yet, or didn't get the email, our own Tavern is open for business. Our bartender is Jason Teague. Drop in and say hi.
4. To the zero posters out there -- get your butt in here!
5. Have fun!
~jt

Attention Zero Poster
If you have not posted at all, then you have to read this. If you do not post by the end of this month (October 31, 2004), your account will be suspended. Now, that does not mean that your account will be deleted, but it will be suspended until you PM me with an introduction of who you are. I do not like not knowing the members of this community as this is a tight-knit one.
So make yourselves known.
Sincerely yours,
~jt (aka jaime, aka your admin).

I apologize for the one hour that the board was closed. I had to do some remodelling for the Halloween festivities.

Apologies
If you're wondering where the background has gone (that is, if you're not seeing one)... that is because VillagePhotos, the place where I am hosting the picture, is going through some system upgrades today.
| QUOTE |
System Upgrades, Monday 11/8/2004 Monday morning, 11/8/2004, we plan to install a new host adapter into one of our files servers. This will take images offline for approximately 5 minutes while we reboot the machine. The site should continue to be available, but images will not. We anticipate no delays, and this should be an easy workout.
We would schedule this for a late night job, but its nearly impossible to get certified technical staff onhand in the wee hours. We'd rather have the work done by professional staff than do it in the middle of the night with less qualified techs.
As soon as I have a closer timeframe for the upgrade, I'll post it.... Scott |

6:00AM: Apologies but VillagePhotos seem to be giving us problems, so the background has poofed. I'm working at finding a new place to host it.
8:37AM: I've found a new place, so things are back to normal for now.

Special Announcement
If you've been keeping up with International News, and our Current Events section, you'll realize that there was a massive Earthquake and subsequent Tsunami which hit the majority of South East Asia (Thailand, Sri Lanka, etc.) In an effort to keep everyone up-to-date, and to encourage everyone to help in any way possible, I've added a small blue Unicef banner to our board.
As I had said before in the Currents Event section, please give generously and give what you can, whether it is time to help with fund-raising, or actually making donations. Every penny counts!
Also, as we are an online community, we have friends from around the world. If you notice anyone who is missing or haven't been around in a long time whom you know are from SE Asia, try to get in touch with them and ask them to check in with the groups that they are involved in. Just because we're online, doesn't mean we don't care. Knowing that he/she is safe matters.
Thank you very much.

Things have been moved around, in relation to an early spring cleaning.
OTH can now be found under TV, with the rest of the TV related stuff. Smallville continues to have it's own place because Smallville is Smallville. ;)
We have a new area "Guilty Pleasures", which is pretty much self-explanatory.

ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS
Lately, we've had an influx of new members joining the board. You need to be aware that Haven is a close-knit community of friends. We expect all members to post and take part in discussions, journals, games, fic reviewing, etc. We do not tolerate zero posters here at Haven. We want everyone to feel comfortable posting here and lurkers often make others uncomfortable.
Please post an introduction of yourselves so we can all get to know you and please remain active on the board. Feel free to PM me with any questions, comments, or concerns. (Click on the PM icon below this message to do so)
Thank you,
angel

Major Changes
Due to the influx of new members, myself and angel have been doing a lot of thinking, especially with the Journals section. Many people put a lot of private stuff in there, posting here because they feel that they are comfortable in doing so because everyone here knows one another. But with the new people, I'm afraid that's no longer the case. As such, there has been a major change made to the permissions here.
1. There are two types of members now: "Juniors" and "Seniors."
2. Juniors will be unable to view the Journals. However, status can change as the member posts more and allows others to get to know them.
3. Seniors, what you can see at Haven has not changed. It will remain as it was before. Seniors are people who have Journals of their own, and are active on the board. There are some exceptions, as those people have PM'd me about why they are here, and others who are well known, friends with many members.
Juniors, if you would like to start a Journal of your own, please PM me, so I can change your permissions.
We are not opposed to new members starting Journals, but to protect the privacy and comfortability of the members here (including us, the administrators), we feel that this new move is necessary. However, if you disagree, or have an opinion to share which you feel can improve this community, please email or PM one of the us (the admins).
Thanks.
~Jaime

Clock Settings
Since Daylight Savings, there's been some adjusting to our clocks here at Haven. I've noticed that although some people are in the same timezone as me (and the board, since I have it set to PST), the clocks are still off. So please, check your clocks. There were some problems the first few days of Daylight Savings, but all the bugs/kinks should be gone now.
So please check your clocks!!

Confidentiality & Privacy
I am very very pissed off right now! I was in a "chat room" the other day, ranting about shit, and now today, after my good day at work, I hear that what I said in confidence was leaked. I FUCKING DO NOT APPRECIATE IT!! I have a good idea who it is, but I will not make any accusations. I prefer that person to step up and take responsibility.
I do not need this type of shit from people, especially not from people I consider friends and thought I could trust!
Let me make one thing clear, if anyone breaches the confidentiality and privacy of Haven (or anything I say), that person will be banned and I will close Haven. FOREVER!
Am I understood?

NEW STUFFWe have a new area on the board, under Extra Extra. It is
Children...Children.... It is a place where we can discuss tips on babysitting, how to deal with children etc. With the summer just around the corner, the kids will no doubt be around and be
active. So you never know... this may come in handy! And of course, we can all document the embarrassing or tough situations, and seek advice.
Have a blast!
Oh and Smallville has been moved into the TV area. SV is getting just a touch boring, and the season is about to end :baby: ... Hopefully, we'll have Supernatural to replace it here at Haven.
