Title: Singapore 'Hires' Filipinos: Pinoys Just Up and Go
Description: This bothers me.

http://www.todayonline.com/articles/206994.aspThis annoys me and my uncle/godfather (Fermin Taruc), the president of PSIA. Yeah, I'm the godson of the president of a software company.
I don't like the fact that people are moving from the Philippines to Singapore just to earn more money than they were making initially. What bothers me is that they just up and go- in the middle of a project.
Anyways, discuss?

The Philippines is already poor...curse you, Filipinos! Thinking about themselves, disregarding their fellowmen and country as a whole.
Though I do plan on working abroad *hides under rock*, I'll do it for education purposes and for the money

No, I mean like they just leave their current companies. YOu don't have to hide under a rock, you haven't even started to work yet... >_>
SaitoHikari - August 25, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
Oh, right...*leaves rock*. Anyways, they're still selfish. Leaving projects undone because they think of the dough they make...hmph

Sometimes, it isn't just that. It's their families.
If you are just making enough to support your family, or if you aren't making enough to support your family, you would want to move immediately so that you and your family might live in prosperity. Or something.
Though yes, they are kind of bleh for just leaving immediately.

My uncle actually knew most of the people that left his company (as friends), and they were all single, or had no family in the Philippines. They just left for the money...

Well, you know, I'd leave the then, too. There's no ethics or feelings involved, it's money. That's all that matters in business. No family? No problem. Move to Singapore, get rich, meet someone, spend money to make them happy. Deal with it.

But would you leave in the middle of an important project?

In your Godfather's case, yes, they are selfish, shallow people, but, like Elecninja said, if some did have a family to take care for and they barely make enough money to put food on their table, then yes, they'd have a better chance of living in a house full of necessities than one chair, small table, and a rock.
