Title: Fall Tournament

Saint PhantomZero - September 24, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm not going to name tournaments after a specific month anymore... But, this would just be a fall tournament. However, this time I will make it a tag team tournament.

Each match would consist of a 2 on 2 battle on a 4x4 grid.

[_][_][_][_]-[_][_][_][_]
[_][1][_][_]-[_][3][_][_]
[_][_][2][_]-[_][_][4][_]
[_][_][_][_]-[_][_][_][_]

Those numbers each represent a navi, and the system is basically the same. Chips that target a "column" will be extended for the whole four panel. For example:

Navi 2 uses Magnum 1: Hits closest column with enemy

[_][_][_][_]-[_][X][_][_]
[_][1][_][_]-[_][3][_][_]
[_][_][2][_]-[_][X][4][_]
[_][_][_][_]-[_][X][_][_]

The same would go for Areagrab.

Navi 4 uses Areagrab

[_][_][_]-[_][_][_][_][_]
[_][1][_]-[_][_][3][_][_]
[_][_][2]-[_][_][_][4][_]
[_][_][_]-[_][_][_][_][_]

However, special chip ranges will NOT be extended at all, so please do not ask about that. I will not tolerate anything here, so be warned about it.

----

Turn based?

How turns will be decided will be Mario-Party styled. I will use a random number generator 1-10 for each person (if two or more people get the same number, then I will redo the roll), and the people with the highest number will go first, and so forth.

Example:

Navi 1: 3
Navi 2: 10
Navi 3: 6
Navi 4: 8

Turn order:

Navi 2, Navi 4, Navi 3, Navi 1.

------------------

Any suggestions for the tournament, any questions, may be posted here. However if you have a question or suggestion about this, please ask before voting; this way you don't change your mind, post about it, and make us go through the entire topic and subtract/add votes.

NOTE: MORE SPECIFICS WILL BE MADE ONCE WE RECEIVE A HEALTHY NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD PARTICIPATE.

Faiyukan - September 24, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I don't think I'd participate because I'm not too involved in the Battle System.

Ryoma Echizen - September 24, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
I'll join. But why not like 4-4?

I'll join. But why not like 4-4?

Because then we would not have enough people to actually make a tournament.

And uh, matches would take longer than they already should... and many obvious reasons.

Ryoma Echizen - September 24, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
I see, I see. I'm still joining.

Ejsaxdude - September 24, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
I don't have any suggestions, but I will be joining.

creaselesscadet - September 24, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
Yep.
Now all I need is my DP and modified chip.

FriendlyFire - September 24, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
I'll join.

ElecNinja - September 25, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
Sure why not?

GRAMMAR NAZI!!!

Yes.

ElecNinja - September 25, 2007 01:10 AM (GMT)
Wasn't that pointless.

Hopefully, there would be people that ACTUALLY participate in this, or at least enough that default wins aren't all that common.
I mean, srsly.

FriendlyFire - September 25, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
Picking partners isn't that fair. The strong ones always partner up with the strong ones.

If that displeases many of you, then I could always arrange separate brackets, for the total level combined of certain teams.

Plus picking people you work WELL with is a strength in itself, so I don't see why we shouldn't.

By the way for all of you wondering, I'm not teaming up with KKL. That'd be way too cheap D:

creaselesscadet - September 25, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
I doesn't really matter, most people have low-level navis, exept some people!
Goes back 8 months and glares at certain someone

We even agreed on this.

Fu - September 25, 2007 07:14 AM (GMT)
I am joining, the system looks a little interesting.

Question: Can you hit your own teammate? [accidentally/on purpose]

Sorry. :( This isn't final though.

No you can't hit your own friend.

Sorry, FriendlyFire. No fun for you. =(

SaitoHikari - September 25, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
I'll be joining too. looks interesting

Ryoma Echizen - September 25, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
Partner up, Saito?

PhantomRiku - September 27, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
I'll join. PZ; how will VarSword's attack range be modified?

Saint PhantomZero - September 27, 2007 01:01 AM (GMT)
I'll think about it. I'll also think of a way to prevent people from just camping the back row.

Damage penalty? Every turn they stay in the back row after the amount of turns you deem, "enough," they take a certain amount of damage?

Basic Anti-Camping protocol. Slay the campers. Or in this case, hurt the campers.

Well I don't want to completely eliminate using the back row... Maybe I could throw in something like a vacuum virus that'll push you forward after being in the back row for X amount of turns?

Ryoma Echizen - September 27, 2007 10:41 AM (GMT)
Why not just make it a 3x4 field? We really shouldn't need that much maneuvering space.

I'll actually make this for Winter, but in the mean time I'm going to hold some test battles with tag team, to help stabilize things and create rules and such for it. Hope that is ok with everyone?

SaitoHikari - October 13, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
yeah, it's pretty much ok with me

(I won't be busy during winter, that's why)

Sero - October 13, 2007 07:37 AM (GMT)
Do you even have a winter? :hmm:

Yeah, I don't really have anything going on. But still, SaitoHikari's my partner.

Saint PhantomZero - December 4, 2007 12:09 PM (GMT)
SO yeah, Winter Tournament sign up is up.
