Title: Drums
Rayden - January 9, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
So, it's been a while since I've posted. But, anyway, any one that knows anything about drums, I'm looking to buy a set, I've got a friend that plays, but, I wanna know as much as I can.
I think I'm going to look at sets this weekend.

You had better be physically fit. Drums are the ultimate full-body experience in the world of music. So be prepared to work your ass off.

I'm an insane drum-freak. I not only march, but I also play set. Traditional and a metal style set up as well.
Ask away.

@ Mokujin. I know, trust me. You really have to be fit when you get into double bass, and things like that.
@ Tennet and Genome. Basically, anything that isn't common that you know maybe. I know some, and like I said, I know a drummer. Actally three, but, I don't get to talk to them often, and two don't play much anymore, and the other one's a kid.

All I know is you need about one bottle of water for every 30 minutes of serious drumming. You'll lose weight and get fit so fast doing it, it's insane. I love my drums :)

wait... blades was fat?
oh and if you plan on doing recording get a pearl other than that any set should do...

Though Pearl does sound nice recorded, Pearl generally tends to be an overrated line of sets.
Their Master Series is quite nice however.
Overall, I prefer Tama/Pearl, with some customized hardware variations. I've got two sets as of now, a Pearl Master Series for my traditional, Drum Kit set, and I've got a custom built Tama kit for heavier playing, double bass, metal set up.
Y'know, the kind with like 8,000 cymbals on it.
What kind of setup are you thinking of getting? It'll be easier to answer your questions if I know that.

You don't need a Pearl set to record.
And, I'm just starting off, so I'm just getting a basic set.
I already have someone that will tell me what I need to know about sets, and if I keep at it, and get the money, I'm probably, eventually going to get a pearl set.

It's costly, but work towards either a Masters Premium or a Masters Custom.
If you go with the Premium, I'd suggest the 6 ply Maple shell. Its got a nice warm sound to it.
