Title: Mega Man 9 on its way?

Well, judging by what my friends are saying this would make it come full circle.

Megaman 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 > 7 > 8 > 9 > X

Although they seem to think MegaMan and Bass is the unofficial MegaMan 9.

Please god let it be true.

I seriously doubt Capcom would let any of their Mega Man franchises come full circle, they like having those cash cows around to sit on. Though I'd like to see them prove me wrong, I mean they actually allowed Battle Network to end properly which was a huge change for them.

The fact that its coming at all is enough for me and as long as the gameplay sticks to the basics of the classic series I'll be happy, like the article said ratings boards don't give rumors official ratings.

Coming full circle is unlikely, yes, because then they couldn't publish such great ones as MegaMan Soccer! =D....D=

Sweet...and that guy kinda looks like the original Megaman box art, too...

SonicRulez - June 17, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
I hope this is true. Since BN ended, maybe they're gonna go back and make the Original/X series come to a close.

The last I heard, and this was from a Capcom report I read months ago, Mega Man 9 was listed as a potential future title. But since then it's been rather hush hush. It's a safe bet though. I'd give it a 95% chance just for being on that list. Add in the fact that it's Mega Man...

Grimm - June 18, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Well, you never know. Halo is also a popular title, but they canceled it's appearance on the DS and swapped it out for some new Viva Pinata game. The thought gives me shudders...

Really? I thought Megaman and Bass was MM9.

It technically is the unofficial MM9, but this would be the actual version, if it exists. Whether it comes before or after MegaMan and Bass is beyond me at this point.

My hopes have been crushed.

Mega Man 9 is indeed coming, but as a Wiiware title done in the original Nes style sprites.

Now the old Nes games were awesome, but we live in 2008. Your telling me Capcom honestly couldn't give this game a big enough budget to have some better looking sprites?.

*sigh* I'm going to go play Megaman 8 for another ten years now, brb.

Oh come on! That's fucking bullshit! I mean, A+ for not reinventing (and therefore destroying) the game play... but the graphics?! And only on Wiiware?! That is beyond lazy. I am officially pissed off.

Saint PhantomZero - June 27, 2008 06:48 AM (GMT)
What in hell that's so gay. x_X

so not getting this game any time soon.

Unit B - June 27, 2008 08:49 AM (GMT)
I have no problem with it being on WiiWare (being as I own a Wii), but the graphics should still be better than 8-bit.

Zerorush - June 27, 2008 09:36 AM (GMT)
I'm glad someone finally agrees with me on this one. Everywhere else it seems like people are actually in favor of this decision, bunch of nostalgia blinded individuals stuck in the 80's if you ask me =(

Unit B - June 29, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Yeah, 8-bit had it's time (namely, 20 years ago) but we've moved onto better things (namely, good graphics).

8 bit??? umm we are WAYYY past that make it altleast 16 bit man. And I would love to see a megaman game useing the curentday graphix. now that would be cool.

Don't be so sure. Me and a lot of my friends still play NES (them with emulators, though) regularly. I have never played a game that was as hard to beat as the original mario or megaman games, which were only available on the NES. And for a game like you were talking about below, try Megaman: Powered Up.

That's more nostalgia than anything, though.

Zerorush - July 7, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
My friend and I had a conversation earlier kind of related to this issue, and I mentioned that graphics do play a role of importance in today's game market. He's always been on the "graphics don't matter" side, but then I mentioned

"well your a huge Metal Gear fan right? Would you still like the series as much as you do if they decided to take all that stealth gameplay and story heavy dialogue back to an 8 bit game?"

He stayed quiet for a bit, then finally agreed with me. Even though a classic MM game still works in 8-bit I've been playing them since the Nes era, I would prefer to keep moving forward instead of backwards.
