I'd go with:
Forte(Forte is better than Bass) Cross, cause it rules with power and style.
Killer(Meh fine, Erase) Cross, because it's well made and it's charged shot allows me to take down anything
Slash Cross, it's charged shot is very effective, especially against Shadows, my most hated viruses

Colonel Soul, because it is so cool and I can kill viruses in about 1-2 seconds.
Shadow Soul, because I can defeat a boss without getting hit while using that soul.

Chaos Shadow Soul (MMBN5)because I can charge it just right and wipe out just about anyone in 1 sweep (except bosses)

Search Soul cause Searchman's buster PWNZ like Search Soul. Auto lock on to enemy and RAPID FIRE. Does lotz of damage.

I find ShadowSoul and Chaos Unison ProtoSoul to be the most useful. ShadowSoul can use Kawarimi to deflect attacks and Chaos Proto can use LifeSword. Lastly, ShadowSoul can come up behind the opponent for a stealthy kill.

Blues, Shadow, and Search Soul for versitility and power. All of these are souls I've used from BN5(borrowed a friend's Colonel). BN4's Blues Soul was great too.
As for Crosses, Aqua Cross hands down. It beat Forte SP in BN6 with a half Aqua Folder and its charge shot. Since it stuns, most of Forte's attacks were stopped. I went through the entire game(up to Falzar) without trying any other Cross. It wasn't until the secret area that I began to find my second favorite Cross.(T-Hawk Cross).

Chaos Shadow Soul for me. The berserk effect was just so ungodly powerful. You're invincible while you flit around the field and deal lots and lots of damage. Just keep hitting the charged shot correctly and you're pretty much able to take down any enemy without getting hit (unless you suck at dodging, and I can't help you with that. >_>)
As for Crosses, I was a huge fan of Slash Cross. It's charged shot did wonders and you could take sword chips (a lot of which were the strongest in the game) and charge them for a shockwave effect and a boost to attack strength, which was just incredible.
I was also a big fan of Colonel Soul and equipping a SuperVulcan to yourself and Chaos Blues Soul for the massively powerful LifeSword.
Chaos Toad Soul wasn't bad either. Dark WideShot was pretty damn powerful.
