Title: Manifesto on Riots
Ronian - November 24, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
I moved my manifesto from the topic Riots to here. It is rather long-winded, so I decided to reduce the clutter. Or rather, I would have reduced the clutter, but the topic was locked before I could clean up. But here it is. Perhaps it will prove useful in the long run.
If I may interject, Richie, it seems to definitely involve the public. There's fear in the public... how can that not involve them? If we close this, no one is heard, and with such back-biting, I believe we all need this discussion to be open to all. I've only been here for a week or two, but it's clear there are problems right now in this site. I understand that people are afraid of Hiei, for some reason. I understand that some people have been demoted and such, that some have lost rights.
But honestly, someone who has earned the right to make such a decision has put Hiei on a higher standing. If that isn't well-liked, revolt. Leave. Help yourself. There is no way any of us can make you stay. But just realize you are not engaging yourselves in any proper manner. There's a system of government in any organization.
This one is not a democracy. There is a clear hierarchy to who has the power here, and only by proving oneself worthy to those higher powers can any of us attain greater power ourselves. But that does not make us powerless. That does not make our voices unheard. If you think Hiei will be a bad admin, petition or protest kindly, instead of swearing obscenities across the public domain. There are effective ways of changing the world, but complaining is not one of them.
Of course, with any rise to power in any government, the people will asses the change with fear, apathy, or joy. I see fear in our fellow men, but to say it shouldn't involve them is silencing masses who have a right to be heard, at least listened to, like you all now are to me.
I, for one, wish that there could be more nations formed, that through these wars, we could have changed political boundaries that include new countries. So, I have an idea, and I go and ask a friend if that sounds even logical to ask it. He replies that it is worth a try, so I PM someone in the aforementioned hierarchy.
Do they have to make my opinion law? Of course not. Should they take it seriously? Yes. Do they have to? No; they have the power. But are there ways to make them respect me enough to make my voice heard? Of course. It's a government, everyone. Treat it with some decency and use its system to benefit all. That's what governments are supposed to do, benefit humanity.
Kipdog, I side with you: let's all be level-headed about this. There are better ways than hatred.
Hiei, I side with you as well. I see no reason for others to be so spiteful toward you. Perhaps you have been less-than-friendly in the past, and perhaps apologies need to be made. Maybe some show of goodwill is in order to calm everyone. But I'm sure you have taken a step of power that you are qualified for and that you have earned. So I see no reason for fear.
As for those of you who are in fear but have displayed it with respect, I commend you and thank you for your courtesy, and I know you will be heard.
Those of you who have stormed out the door because your way hasn't been made the absolute law as fast as you wanted it, I hope you will return someday with more kindness.
Maybe Hiei will keep his position, but maybe that's not a bad thing. But leaving doesn't give you a voice. Those who commit suicide to promote something only shock the public and merely fade into history.
This site requires honesty and respect from all of its members. It is made for the enjoyment of all those who enter. Let them all come in peace and stay with their rights intact.

Unfortunately all this talk is only going to end up like Sara's and countless others' topics on this exact same subject. Some people just won't listen to intelligent words. People will start arguing; about Hiei, about myself, about the staff, about Zephyr, whatever it will be, they will start aruging. And then this will get the lock, and nothing will change.

Almost every topic like this has been locked. Why continue what won't change?

All true enough. But it's here, just the same.

Am I missing something? I'd thought people had pretty much settled down about Hiei 'n all.
Kojiro - December 15, 2005 11:35 PM (GMT)
Probably just taking it in silence ;)
Kyrillos - December 16, 2005 02:08 AM (GMT)
I'm not involved in this one.

Hm? Oh, no, I wrote this a long time ago, back when it was a big deal and all. I just noticed some people actually read it, so I wanted to respond in some way. No, I agree, I think people have pretty much calmed down now.
Kipdog - December 16, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
Eh, well, all of this stuff has been resolved either way.
