Title: Question about the new system
agentice - December 13, 2005 07:11 AM (GMT)
Has the new stat system been decided/designed yet; If not I would like to post my Ideas.
Cadin - December 13, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
Feel free to post your idea.

Right, whew here I go.
I've read that your basing it off of FE:PoR
Well this may change some depending if you keep the ‘create a class’ keywords.
For stats points given to create a class lower the number to something in the forties (40's), so that every stat point counts for so much more.
For the stat growth you could change to a more FE true system
From Good-average-bad to
S-A-B-C-D-E
Everyone starts with solid C’s for their growth.
Then when they chose a class or keywords they get ‘key’ skills and ‘weak’ skills.
A key skill would get a 1 letter grade boost and weak skills get 1 letter grade penalty.
So a ‘Lance Knight’ may have: HP, Str, Skl, Def, as key skills and Mag, Res as weak skills.
Lance Knight –
HP (B) / Str (B) / Mag (D) / Skl (B) / Spd © / Luck © / Def (B) / Res (D)
Then the player can move around the growth rates, but they cant raise a weak skill higher then D or C (which ever works better when the rules are finalized)
Mag-1,res-1,luk-1,Spd+2,str+1
So-
HP B / Str A / Mag E / Skl B / Spd A / Luck D / Def B / Res E
For what the growth rates could be (in percent)-
S-70 / A-60 / B-50 / C-40 / D-30 / E-20
S would bet +14 points every 20 levels, A 12, B 10, C 8, D 6, E 4
And to note HP’s growth is 20 higher then the other stats.
As for the stats
When you make the class’ have every class start with some HP like my ‘lance knight’ might start with 18 HP and then I can add points to increase that, while a mage would start with 10 or 8.
Now for the keywords (if you have them)
Each key word could have 1-5 key stats and 0-3 weak stats and a HP start number
So if you took 2 keywords (Knight and Lancer …*cough lance knight cough*)
Knight would have HP 22 / Key HP,Str,Def / Weak Spd,Luck
Lancer would have HP 14 / Key Skl,Spd,Luk / weak Res,Mag
And you would average all the stuff out to…
HP 18 / Key HP,Str,Skl,Def / weak Mag,Res
Or you could end up with keywords that support each other (Knight and Fighter)
Knight would have HP 22 / Key HP,Str,Def / Weak Spd,Luck
Fighter would have HP 20 / Key HP,Str,Spd / weak Def,Res
And that would be
HP 21 / Key HP2,Str2, / Weak Luk,Res
What would that do? Well:
Growth- HP (A) / Str (A) / Mag © / Skl © / Spd © / Luck (D) / Def © / Res (D)
Then I would move that around a bit and get –
HP (S) / Str (S) / Mag (E) / Skl (B) / Spd (A) / Luck (D) / Def (E) / Res (E)
Well I believe that’s about all I can think of for now…
Hope you consider it.

ugh sorry if this is off topic but i gots a question.....why are we doing FE9 stats again? it might be just me but its like everyones changing their FE site to FE9 and its just like "why cant we stay on one thing for a while?" and excuse me i was was here when it was elibe then they reset it like right when i got there then they reset it again and made it magival.
bottom line is could we stick to magival for at least one more reset then can we change it to FE9 when almost EVERYONE will be familiar with it?
sorry if this is too flamitory or not on topic but this is how i feel.

Wow, agentice. You've got, what, four posts so far, and that one takes all. So well thought out... so... clear. So straightforward. It makes sense to me, and I don't even have PoR (well, it's under the tree...). I like the idea of having multiple levels for stat growth, rather than Good-Regular-Bad. S through E is nice. And the key-word/weak-word set-up looks like it'd work really well.
For my own idea...
Last time, each level was a strict set of points gained each time. I noticed that Dragon's Drake and my Reán, both at level 13, were so close: I had 2 more HP and 1 more defense, and he had 2 more luck. In other words, once we set our character's initial stats, it's just a matter of what level the guy's at and you know exactly what his stats are.
So how about each level has a bonus point or two that you can place in any of the seven stats you like? That way each level still gains a certain amount, but you can work a little extra on a certain weak stat - like my current FE8 Eirika's strength of 9 at level 15 - or give an extra boost to a really high stat, like Reán's speed.
Edit: But I do agree with General, I'd like to keep the FE8 setting, too.

(edit: In FE:PoR) the biggiest thing i noticed first was the shift from Con to Str for weapon wielding, which was a awesome and smart/logical move. all those heavy weapons just became usable and wanted.
before it used to be- my myrmadon (SP) with 5 con needed slim swords to not have a penalty EVEN though he had 24 Str, now in FE9 he can use his Str to wield weapons up to 24wt.
you kind of need that when a armor slayer has 18wt, ouch in old FE you would take at least a 8 spd penalty.
as for magi, str helps them to tote those dictionaries around. :D
Sojourn - December 13, 2005 11:59 PM (GMT)
yes but the problem about the con-str thingy is a person is MENT to have disadvantages other then the weapon/magic triangle and a myrmidon should not have that low of a con lol
agentice - December 14, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
dont LOL me please, ever play FE7 (first one to comeout to the states) Guy had a 6 con score when you got him, and steel sword weighed 10.
so that means guy takes a -4 spd from just steel, how about a Lancereaver which would allow him to fight Cavaliers, it weighs 12, ouch a -6.
Sojourn - December 14, 2005 12:29 AM (GMT)
hmmm ok....so what are axe users for?
and so what? guy has enough spd to risk it...and most enemys he has to fight are not very fast and if they are then use a lighter weapon like wo dao and silver sword

General, You don't make the decisions here. Kindly refrain from debating the quality of a suggestion made by someone else.
Don't post in this topic again.
myles_master - December 14, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
I don't see what he did wrong. He is stating a suggestion also. I don't see anyone doing anything wrong.

they're starting to argue, and that's not what the topic is for (like I should be talking :P )
anyway, I like most of ice's ideas. I don't think the str=con thing would work out too well for a forum, unless magic users had to have a bad growth on it

He shouldn't be bringing down someone's suggestion. Besides, this isn't in the RPG system is it? There is no reason to bring down this man's suggestions, if he wishes to actually make something of this subject, he can make a topic about this himself if it even got added to the battle system here.
myles_master - December 14, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
Yes i know. But General was making suggestions also. They were both putting each other down. It wasn't just General so i don't see why General can't post here anymore...

Because this is not his topic, and he was causing spam...Kind of like you.
No more spam in this topic, eh?

We don't even know what system we are doing yet...

Does that work for me too? I just don't want to spam or anything.
I do somewhat agree with General about keeping the constitution, annoying as it may be. I also was wondering if there would be some way to have a healer class. I don't know how they'd spar and get experience, short of making up some staff weapons...? but it'd be nice to have healers that don't take a -8 stat penalty to use staves.
EDIT: Got it. I'll put my ideas in my own topic from here on out.

Feel free to post your idea, as in make your own topic maybe. You don't need to post all the ideas in one topic, especially when this was so and so's idea.

Well my earlier post was geared towards a more game like stats system, where you have to take in to account the strengths and weakness of the different units. In the game you have your Magi and Archers hiding behind the Knights and Cavalry. Well on this forum its currently more balanced towards everyone having a fair chance at stats regardless of class, so that a Magi can take on a Pegasus Knight. With what I posted earlier you would have to battle similar warriors in the arena, and support each other during an actual tactical battle.
Hmm what else … well in FE9 Cavalry can use hit and run tactics.
