Title: The Da Vinci Code

Despite its name, this is not a discussion about the book. This is a discussion on the topics found in the book and the beliefs presented.

In the book, it is said that Mary Magdalen was the wife of Jesus Christ, and that it was her, a woman, that should take rule and see to the carrying out of Jesus' plans and his faith. Many people seem to believe this plot, and after reading this book, it makes absolute sense.

For example, when I learned about Constantine the Great in school and his converting of his people to Christianity, I assumed he was Christian. But, it would seem I was wrong. By him being Pagan, it made me question. Was he converting his people to help unify them in times of turmoil? By uniting his people under one name, Christianity, he was able to bring peace, and it obviously payed off. But, the choice to believe that is up to you...Was Constantine a man who had discovered faith, and wished to share that faith with his people? Or, was he a man who only wanted peace among his people, and changing he and his people's faith was the only way to do that.

Also, in regards to the sacred feminine. This concept would make the most sense to practically anyone who listened. Many religions believed in the sacred feminine, actually just about all did, but it was after Jesus died and people began to settle religious matters in an unfair democratic ways, using only men, and rewriting history so that Mary Magdalen became known as a whore that women began to lose their sacred feminine influence. People began to assume many things were because God was not happy with women because it was Eve who first took the apple from the Garden of Eden.

I will continue my rant later, but I have to go...

Yes i believe Jesus could have married Mary, but the writers of the gospel left this out in the bible because they could not let their supposed savior look like any other man that had a wife.

But Why? Jesus was still human, no matter what anyone would say, so, why couldn't he have a wife? AND, if he indeed had a wife, why did they have to turn her into a whore? Why not just some other woman he met on the street?

Well, the reason is probably because Rome was a male-driven society. While women did enjoy more rights in Rome than they did in the Middle Ages, women were still inferior to men. I would say that the Christians needed to have a wider appeal, and having a man that doesn't need a woman probably sounded very masculline back then.

There is no way to prove Jesus did or did not marry unless you trust a 2,000 year old book word for word.

However, these are some pieces of evidence:

- Jesus was Jewish, believe it or not, and being a bachelor at that time was extremely unheard of, even a crime.

- The Gospel of Mary Magdalene has specific references to her being "Jesus' favorite"

I don't understand what you people have against Jesus marrying. Other than the fact that you probably believe that Jesus is actually God and that God marrying a mortal is practically incest... :P

Well then since we are a more understanding society shouldn't we update it? I mean, if we do indeed acknowledge the existence of Mary as Jesus' wife, then I think we should at least update the bible with the lost gospels...

What is that supposed to mean? that we can know something better than those who were there?

yes, Jesus was jewish, that is by blood. due to the fact that mary (his mother) was jewish, and the jewishness(cant think of the right word) of someone is traced by the mothers blood. you cant say that Jesus was looking forward to a savior as those who practaced judism(ack, im sorry my brain is tired. i cant spell) because he is the prommised savior.

ive not read or seen the de vinchi code, but what exactly do they say is the evidence for the marrage of Jesus and marry magdaline? if they were married what difference would it make? as one of you said "being a bachelor at that time was extremely unheard of, even a crime" so it could have been for a necessary social status. as for the crime part i highly doubt that, where did you hear that?

again, i highly doubt that he was married.

It would make a difference because it would make it possible for Jesus to have had children. And if Jesus had children, that would mean that the descendants of Jesus could still be out there.

Chances are, however, they wouldn't. An amazing amount of people die, and if I recall correctly, the black plague killed off.. What, 1/4 of the known population? That would've put a dent in a helluvalot of bloodlines.

It was actually 1/3, I think.

Holy crap, when'd you show up? I'm not saying that they're definitely still around, I'm just stating that if Jesus had children, the blood might still be around there somewhere. Remember that in those days, people had many children, so it's possible that Mary Magdalene's child(ren) may have spread across the world, though I doubt Jesus would have had more than one child before his crucifixion.
