Title: Just so you don't become surprised

Lionheart - December 28, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
You might see some people in the "Roleplay Moderator Group." Yes this is for the upcoming text RP. These people are only people to help make, and help run, the text RP.

Ket Halpak - December 28, 2005 02:42 AM (GMT)
Yep, I'm one of them. ^_^ I created the actual layout for the RP.

KuraiKitsune - December 28, 2005 05:58 AM (GMT)
Is there only going to be one main text RP, or are there going to be more? The way you simply say, "The Text RP" can imply either one major RP, or one that will get rid of all the others and encourage attention to one in particular.

Will we still be able to start our own RPs, or is the system going to be restricted to one main role play?

Lionheart - December 28, 2005 06:02 AM (GMT)
You should still be able to make your own roleplays. However, the main roleplay will be directly tied into the stat RPG.

Ket Halpak - December 28, 2005 06:42 AM (GMT)
What Karn and I were planning was that you can gain level-ups for your character by roleplaying in the text RP, as well as participating in the statistical section. That way people who enjoy roleplay will be able to enjoy a nice text RP, and gain levels as well.

Severian - December 28, 2005 06:52 AM (GMT)
I'd like to suggest that you guys list the RP mods in the forum moderating team if it's possible.

Just so that we can see them all, everyone can contact each other if need be for any reason, etc.

...Unfortunately, I've seen that system go awry several times, resulting in getting minimal experience or none at all... is there going to be a set system for this?

And are there going to be literacy requirements? I don't mean to offend, but one-liners or **'s just don't to justice sometimes, and can destroy the mood of, say, an intense battle session.

Ex:

Post 1:
Standing back and arching his head backwards while lazily rotating his gaze from the girl's weapon to her eyes, Klein smiled as she fidgeted under his eyes. He hadn't meant to intimidate her, only to acknowledge the girl's presence, rather than only seeing the weapon she held in her hands. Quickly whipping his hand backwards and feeling his deltoids draw taught as he caught an arrow that lay in the quiver on his waist, he swiftly drew his bow, as well. Feinting a shot to the left while anticipating her dodge, he shot to the right. If she was to dodge his attack in the same manner she had done before, then she should careen right into his arrow...

Post 2:
*Dodges to the left* Haha!

----

Can we do something to prevent this, or is this acceptable?

Ket Halpak - December 28, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
Well, good roleplaying will be rewarded with good levelups. Sub-par roleplaying will not gain very much experience, and if a person abuses the roleplay too much, they will be banned from the roleplay.

And one-liners like that will be ignored by both RP Mods and RPers (we'll stress for them to be ignored).

Severian - December 28, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
Though, to be honest, while more than a couple of lines can usually be posted, there are going to be times when an almost as short response would be appropriate (your character goes to sleep, for instance).

Agreed.

Ket Halpak - December 28, 2005 08:27 PM (GMT)
Or when characters are speaking to each other. Dialogue isn't always a whole paragraph in real life.

Crystal Shards - December 28, 2005 08:33 PM (GMT)
Heh. Gooooooddd luck with that one.

Zephyr - December 28, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
Good luck, people.

Hey make me one. I am a loyal member.

Hey make me one. I am a loyal member.

I believe you, and I'm sure that once you prove yourself, you can be.

But right now, it's not gonna be a position that the admins just make you, they're only going to appoint people who've proved themselves.

My main suggestions for becoming one? Try to make some suggestions on the FEW board, show that you're interested and have some ideas. If you do, the admins might take notice and decide they'd like your advice on the production in general, and let you in to the forum sections where we discuss that stuff.

And it has a awesome icon as well...

Ket Halpak - December 29, 2005 06:41 AM (GMT)
I made that icon! ^_^ It's my Halberdier sprite! Glad you like it.

Silenthunder - December 29, 2005 07:11 AM (GMT)
I agree on not having short meaningless posts in the RP, but when people make posts that take more than 5 minutes to read I become uninterested. Also, I doubt gigantic posts are absolutely needed in an RP, because the other person has to jump in sometime. It is nice to have some details about what is happening, but I don't have to know what he plans to have for dinner that night, or what he is doing with his shoulder. I dislike the short posts as much as I hate the excruciatingly long ones.

um everyone can find out your IP adress cause when you go to properties from the picture it shows it...yeah, but 'sides that very cool

And i'm gonna love this, i suck at text RPing but i love it and try to get better at it, so far i guess i'm okay but still not very good lol, but i'm gonna try to be very active in it, unless theres alot of god modders around, that the most annoying thing ever when you always make a post saying to strike and they say you miss and they almost kill you with a hit right afterwards and they do it constantly

Ket Halpak - December 29, 2005 08:27 AM (GMT)
It's good to know that someone who isn't really sure of his ability wishes to roleplay and do it correctly. ^_^

And that's not my IP Address. It's uploaded via Admin CP then added to a group. So, it's the InvisionFree IP address or something.

I identify with that!

Death Love - December 29, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
So we are going to have Role-Play Mods. You made Aien one . . .

Kyrillos - December 29, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
It's because I'm Aien, and I actually know how to RP Textually.

Bosco - December 29, 2005 09:45 PM (GMT)
Good luck, I'm sure you'll pull somthing half decent off. :P

Longinus - December 29, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
If Aien's a mod, its sure to be more than half-decent! I love text rping....That's actually where I got started, and boy, was it fun!

King Kong - December 29, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
LONGINUS! You're...Longinus again! Oh, and the RPG system is being created as we speak. It should only be 5-6 days before it's done.

Longinus - December 29, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Yes, I'm Longinus again! You seem happy!

Kyrillos - December 29, 2005 11:32 PM (GMT)
And there's stuff still to be done, yes. Not too much though.
