Title: Kids

Severian - February 15, 2006 03:12 AM (GMT)
We just heard some girl over an internet radio who sounded, like, 8, singing the Jay and Silent Bob Rap.

I don't know why, but I feel like kids should be a little more innocent. I mean, I might expect this at 10 or 11, but I think she was younger than that. I dunno, it's just weird.

EDIT-Not that I think of Jay and/or Silent Bob as particularly corruptive. Just that I still find it surprising.

Children these days.. They're being corrupted at a younger and younger age.

Does WHY really have to be the question? It's partly because of all the influencing in movies, music, school, T.V., and the et cetera. Parents and friends/peers are the other part of "why," or atleast in my opinion it is. Don't get me wrong, I'm not racist, if a Lebonese child wants to befriend an Islamic child, or Black child and White child, whatever.. Go ahead! Just, one thing.. Know the colour of your skin.

Agrred Puff... I hate raps but I'm American/Aussie (mixture!) and none of my friends are Aussie... but they all listen to songs by Aussie artist (thanks to me) and there saying I should listen to rap... it's like not even music I can rap better than all yall... gimme a subject and I can (must rhyme) anyways... The point is... know what you are and listen to that kind of music... so ya 8 year olds shouldn rap...

Not what I meant, Dai. It's true, 8 year olds shouldn't be exposed to rap and it's messages, but that's completely up to the guardiens (and we know, all guardiens make mistakes somewhere along the lines of parenthood). I was just trying to say that if you know your skin colour/what you are, it's fine to listen to rap or what-have-you.

Example: If I see a white girl "grinding" like a black girl, I always have an urge to ask her if she knows the colour of her skin. If yes, fine. If no, then she should take a time out and fix that tangled/broken wire in her brain. (And, exuse me, no racism intended.)

Still... if the raps have no curse words there fine...

Puff - February 18, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
Rap not have curse words? Since when? What kind of rap have you heard... I want to hear this.

Note:: Oxymoron: Rap Music

Nate - February 18, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
I haven't

I want to hear it though...

Like eMiNeM without curse words... not gonna happen in this life.

Puff - February 18, 2006 03:59 AM (GMT)
I don't know... It might. His song "When I'm Gone" (NOT "Without Me" They're two COMPLETELY different songs!) is pretty good... I like the lyrics, and I don't think there's too much cursing, if any.

Nate - February 18, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
I wouldn know don't listen to them... just know his name

I'm Australian, Can't stand rap (or anyone for this matter). I've been listening to stuff from as far back as the sixties! Eighties is my Favorite. Seventies is good as well. Yeh I suck big eh?

Nate - February 18, 2006 04:21 AM (GMT)
J-rock/J-pop (GF got me into it) and rock for me

Puff - February 18, 2006 04:25 AM (GMT)
J-Rock, Classical, Jazz, Heavy/Rock, Metal, Punk, Emo, Ska for me. Anyone else heard of Ska?

Nate - February 18, 2006 04:34 AM (GMT)
We should keep this on topic...

Crystal Shards - February 18, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
What the hell? Know the color of your skin? That's probably the most retarded comment I have ever heard. I know white kids who can rap better than any of those sold-out piece-of-shit commercial rappers on TV.

I agree that little kids should be little kids. Too bad it doesn't seem to be that way anymore.

Maybe we should be proud they maturin so fast...

Or jealous.

I think it's healthy for kids to know things about the world at a younger age but not rap. I absolutely hate rap in every way and it hurts to see young kids rap and "act tough" I agree kids should be kids. But in a sense i think they should pay attention to what's going on around them a lot more.

I disagree, because as children we should be able to have fun and enjoy the world around us; not be envious, or what-have-you, of it from the start. I think, being children is and was our escape from what was really going on and our look at the world from our purest eyes. So that when we grow and see everything how it "really is" we can look back and know that nomatter what happened when we were younger, we had fun and didn't worry about all the big stuff..

[Once again, thoughts scattered, I apologize...]

Ya I think kids should just play and not hunt (till there 4... I mean 10 <_< ) and they should remember that childhood was frolicking with the squirrels (love these gay words)

Phoenix - February 19, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
I partially dissagree. I do despise rap "music" (classical, alternative rock (NOT punk), jazz, blues, oldies for me), yet I think kids at any age can listen if they want to. However, the thing that should be drilled into they're heads is the facts of what they should do with what they listen to, as in how they should follow the music's/ other form of media's example.

Nate - February 19, 2006 07:10 PM (GMT)
Either way... it sucks all the same...

Kio - February 19, 2006 08:51 PM (GMT)
Ya ya thats the problem with these kida, and the adults who cover up for it. They always play the "Rap music did it" card. News flash dumb ass, you were taught the difference between right and wrong, the rappers dont have enough sense to rap bout anthing inteligent, plus thatd be dumb. And you dont have enough sence to not follow what they say "I never wal anywhere un strapped" Good for you, I never walk anywhere withought my fickin SP, see me rappin bout it. Thats cause ids dont have a role model tolook upon so they do that. Then the parents make some sad exscuse..

POW ONE POINT FOR TEH KIO!
