Title: I apologize...

Severian - April 11, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
I left, and originally intended to leave without a word. But I came back to find Grady and ask him a question, though hopefully Hiei will be able to answer it in his stead.

Anyway, I'm leaving because I just have other things to do. FEW is alright, but there are just a lot of other things in life I'd rather spend my time on. I didn't realize what the problem was the first time I left, I thought I was just bored, but the real thing is that this place is ok. It's just that whenever I was on here, I'd be thinking about doing something else, which is not an indication of good recreation. I'm making KoL and the HBO forums (The Wire has a discussions forum I found today, w00t) my only places of activity from now on, if you're on either you can pay me a call at Malrubius (KoL) or Mhoram (HBO).

The reason why I decided to leave a goodbye and short explanation...well, one of the newer members to your board PM'd me a question, and in part of it I dispensed some arbitrary advice and then said "I'm leaving" and gave a short thing on why. And if he deserves something, you guys do; I don't have deep ties here, but I have met some decent people on here and I may as well give a polite goodbye, right?

By the way, even if you don't know who it is, you just look at my profile if only for a chance to look at a pretty picture. Not by me.

I'll conclude with a reccommendation. If you had to read Fitzgerald or Hemmingway in school and liked them....forget them. Move on to Dos Passos and Faulkner. Both are better "Lost Generation" writers, and while none of us have enough time to read every one of even the best books in the world, these two authors could arguably be placed in those ranks. I haven't read anyone else, so I can't speak on the more forgotten writers. Beware Ayn Rand.

Goodbye, Bucket.

I'll make it a point to read Faulkner sometime. Fitzgerald was alright.

Hah, I like your warning. I was into The Fountainhead a while ago. However, after long periods of analyzing it with my friends we realized that Ayn Rand's philosophy fails at being practical, which is what she invented it for.
