I'm not sure if I'm even aloud to post here, but I'd like to note that I don't feel stat caps level the playing field at all.

They have them in FE. Why not here?

The Entertainer - April 17, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
They have them in FE because they need to make sure that the enemies they supply will serve as good competition throughout the game. That doesn't apply here though, since everyone grows, and no one is tied down to the same stats forever.

*gasp* a FEW first!!! I agree wih mixtil. I think the stat system 2 before this one was best. all this extra stuff complicates matters more than it allows for freedom. only problem with the stat caps then was that you could max out 5-6 of your stats easily, provided you train to 20/20. I think you should either go back to that and raise the caps a bit, or lower the points. or perhaps you could give, say 5-10 points at promotion to increase stat caps. that would allow for plenty of freedom while still keeping things sane.

incidentally, I also liked the keyword/promoted stat caps/exclusive weapons/effective weapons system there used to be.

The very way we play FEW makes it different from FE. We pit player controlled characters, against other player controlled characters. Unless we make FEW into a team based game where you fight against scrawny NPC players, it will always be different from FE. Just because we have it in our name, doesn't mean we follow it precisely.

PS @ LoZfan: No Stat Caps still limits stats somewhat. In fact, the highest your stats can go are 44 with 100% growth and as many points put into it at start and promotion, so in essence all we're doing is raising the "stat cap" to 44.

You might be able to have higher then 44.
at promotion just increase a stat from 100% -to- 120%.
the only problem is the mod probibly wont allow it, since it's not in the rules.

The Entertainer - April 19, 2006 03:11 AM (GMT)
No, it is not allowed.

Well, yes, we aren't teams against NPCs, we are teams against teams. Makes little difference.

Actually, when arguing Stat Caps, it makes a huge difference. In FEW, having PvP the main focus of our game, means that EVERYONE grows, and since everyone benefits from taking away Stat Caps, it means that Stat Caps make no difference on whether they exist or not, only that they limit the potential of everyones character.

Míxtil_<3_fish! - April 20, 2006 04:05 PM (GMT)
If you think about it, our charecters are members of bads of fighters in the form or nations, and compete in Arenas, just like in FE. So why not stat caps?

The Entertainer - April 21, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
???

I think... your missing the point, or something :\

Enemies in FE do not grow. Enemies in FEW grow, same us you. Therefore, any unlimited growth your character have will also be possible with any enemy you square off against.

So why not stat caps? Because they do nothing, and have a meaningless existance.

Sorry I've been arguing for so long, I just want to get my point across to everyone voting. Stat Caps are not needed in FEW, because everyone your facing grows just like you do.

The we shouild have limitless levels. Or the upper limit being 20/30.
