Well, I was watching the movie in Anime Club, and I must note, it kicked SERIOUS ASS! I was just wondering if anyone else here felt the same way, or has seen the movie at all. For those who don't know what it is, it's a movie based on a novel about a class of Jr. High School seniors who are taken to a deserted island (under cover of a class trip, during which they're drugged and kidnapped) in which they participate in "The Program."

"The Program" is a rather sadistic "competition" in which the 42 members of Shiroiwa High School class B are pitted against each other in a battle to the death. The students are monitored through the homing devices in their collars, which also contain a microphone and a bomb... The collars can also detect signs of life, so the "Program" administration knows who's died. The Rules? Each student is given a bag containing food and a weapon. The weapon can range between a MAC-10 Submachinegun and a plain old pot lid. The students are given three days to kill each other off. If there is more than one survivor after 3 days, the collars all explode, and we don't have a winner...

Well, that's the gist of it... it's fucking awesome

The one guy with the Machine gun kicked ass... Kiriyama. He killed like 14-20 people, and there was this chick who was like, the evil slut maniac killer... she killed some dudes after she fucked 'em... >_< Kiriyama kills her in the end though... And then there's the super badass Shogo Kawada, who, fortunately for Shuya and Noriko, is a "good guy." And then there's superstar Shinji Mimura, who makes a bomb. And then, there's one of the most disturbingly entertaining parts ever:

The girlies at the lighthouse. See, there are these five or six girls at a lighthouse, and they've decided to wait the game out... Super cool Hiroki Sugimura carries Shuya(winner #1) there after he got shot up by Kiriyama. Shuya's then cared for by the girls in the lighthouse, though they don't really trust him cause he's a dude. One little girl(Yuko) had Potassium Cyanide for a weapon and since she's the shy scared of guys type, she puts it in Shuya's food. However, before she can get the food to Shuya, this other girl who's really hyper and perky and likes eating eats Shuya's food. Everything's going all normal and stuff, until that girl(Yuka) pukes up blood and dies. Then, one of the other girls, the paranoid one (Satomi), goes crazy and holds the others at gunpoint with an M780 Shotgun. All out shootout, all the girls in the lighthouse kill each other off, except for Yuko, who was, ironically enough, the one who started this whole fiasco. She goes nuts, and jumps off the top of the lighthouse... leaving only Shuya... funny how these things happen no? Disturbing at the same time...

I've wanted to watch this movie for a long time, yet haven't because I'm sure my mom will find it horror-istic and quite disturbing.

But I still want to watch it.

I've heard a lot about it, and this description helps, too. X]] I don't want to read the manga right away because usually if manga's gory, you flip a page, get a whole page of gory stuff and have a look at it the whole time because you have to read the text. XP That's what happened to me with The Ring. It wasn't fun. XP
