Title: Beat this!
Description: SSBM Homerun Record
Ronian - June 2, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
So today I was fiddling around on the homerun contest part of the game. My old record was 1530 something. Today, I hit
1815.0 ftAny takers? I'll give a smile to anyone who comes within 100ft of that, and two if they hit my record or higher.
Bring it!!! ^_^
EDIT: In light of skeptics, I present the best and only evidence I have. Check all you like, they're authentic. If you still doubt, I challenge anyone to post one of my pictures with different numbers and make it convincing. So hah! :P

Me hitting 1814.3. I couldn't get back to 1815.0 ft.

An earlier attempt that failed to hit 1800, but it still made me happy.

The Homerun Contest Choose Character menu, with the 1815.0 high score listed.

You know, someone could just post they got higher and probably never even played the game. :/ In fact, for all we know you could be doing that right now.
strikeraider827 - June 2, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
I think RVG hit 2000+ once, although I'm not sure. I'm sure Karn's pwned even that, though.
Blademastersupreme - June 2, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
What are we talking about? Smash Bros? If so my records only 1500 somethin.
Ronian - June 2, 2006 10:53 PM (GMT)
Hmm... A valid point, Trace; I ought to give proof. Give me a minute, and I'll take a picture of it and get it online.
EDIT: The battery on my digital camera is dead. I'll put up the image as soon as I can.

Hmm... so there's really no way to prove this one for you, is there? Well, I'm being as honest as I can be, and I don't lie. Ever. I'm a boy scout, for cryin' out loud! I can't offer any more evidence than what I'm about to put up, so if you can't trust me on that, then there's not much else I can say.
EDIT: There. It's up. Good luck to any challengers.

Yes, I agree that "HRC" is kinda' boring. But I was all alone, and the computers get boring, too.
Alex - June 4, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
I play my little brother. He's not that good with technical skills, but he's much better than a n00b and is solid. Level 9 computers do make me cry, although I could easily 4-stock all of them with my mains. For example, with Falco, if I try and approach with SHL, they power shield it. They also ruin my game because I know when to spot dodge their laggy moves and then punish them. X_X.
Anyways, I'm probably better than everybody here except Karn. I've been practicing A LOT since SSBB was announced. I can't be rusty when it comes out in 2007. :P.
Ronian - June 4, 2006 01:27 AM (GMT)
I'd like to say I'm better than everyone, but...
1) Probably not true. I do play a lot, but I'm not like a SSBM tank.
2) I have no way to tell.
I just wish that the computers would learn. That's what I wish every game had, actually. For example, as Roy one can always get any enemy to come right to the edge of a cliff if you're out in the air; then, all you have to do is come in with up-B at the right spot that sends them off the cliff themselves, leaving you plenty of time to smack them as they come back. So predictable, so simple, and so humans-only-fall-for-it-once-or-twice. I want computers that start to learn what moves you do most often and come up with counter-moves/counter-attacks for them, like two good players will. My friend and I have fun watching how we'll change our strategy over and over again to dance just one step ahead of the advantage dance... to use a horrid metaphore.
By the by, I've heard that pressing L just before landing - and not like what I call wall-catching, where you've been sent flying into a wall and you push L as you hit it and recover very quickly and don't bounce... You know, you jump and then land... does pushing L when you land then decrease your recovery time? I've never found that it does, but someone told me it did once.
And I just barely learned about air-dodging and grabbing items at the same time, and that pushing L+A in the air and no control stick direction does the same; you can just grab something without even stopping. You probably knew that ages ago, right? ^_^

If we all get a Wii and SSBB...
Fire Emblem Wars Super Champ Tourney!!!!
Dibs on Metaknight!

If you are playing a good person, you might be lucky to get back on the stadium about 50% of the time, depending on who you are, who you are playing against, and your options(depends normally on what your percent is and how far away you are). If I played you with Falco, I'd just spike you with a dair and that can work when you are as low as like 40%.
Eh, I'm not really understanding what you are saying. I think what you mean is wall teching. You can do that when you get hit and touch the ground too. It works with R also. You can press R or L to reduce lags with aerials, normally done with a short hop, too if you press it right when you touch the ground, hence shffling.
Yeah, but I don't play with items. That is only useful against a Peach.
Ronian - June 4, 2006 03:59 AM (GMT)
So... pressing L/R before landing on a simple jump does reduce lag time then. Cool.
Yeah, some guys like Falco have a great down air move (I'm assuming that's what you meant by "dair") that can really take down anyone. Pushing up on Roy's third forward-B combo... thing... makes him strike downward and hit anyone into the floor – or off of a cliff and straight down; Roy's my most common guy, followed by Kirby. I assume you use Falco most often?

Or a (Young) Link with a bomb. ...heh... I just had a thought: what if you could catch Samus' missles and throw them back?
Alex - June 4, 2006 11:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that is Roy's spike. B Fowards is... not the best attack to do out of the blue.
I main Falco, Marth, and Sheik. I'm also pretty good competitive with Mario and Ness.
No to Samus's missiles. =/.
I Have a Sandwich - June 4, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)
I can do some major damage with Marth, fox, or believe it or noit, Jigglypuff. She kicks so much ass when used right.
But Iver gotten somewheer near that, but it wa a cheap Mad Catz card. Guess what happened next :/
Valter - June 4, 2006 09:25 PM (GMT)
O.o Mine is with Roy somewhere around 1240......

Actually, there is a really powerful move involving the wall tech. If you are holding on to the edge and someone hits you, you can wall tech at that exact time and wall tech instead of flying off. However, some character's who have more or less straight up recoveries can't survive after it anyways, since you jump diagonally, and you're jump is wasted.
I think my highest score on HRC was something like 1600.
Edit: I just got 2503. I took a picture with my phone, but my network is down right now, so I can't send it. I'll post it when my network is back up.
Alex - June 5, 2006 07:00 PM (GMT)
Eh... I don't really see the use in that unless you don't use the invincibility frames given to you right when you get on the ledge.
