Title: Veteran Forum...
Cat - June 10, 2006 09:50 PM (GMT)
Err, maybe you should make a Group called "Veterans" and set it so that only vets can see the Veteran board. :/

Yeah, that would make sense to me...
strikeraider827 - June 10, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
Or, we could leave it as it is.
sara13987 - June 10, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
It's not like there's anything important in there.
Besides, you'd have to modify so many groups for them to see it. And even then, some un-vets would have to see it. :/
Kaden - June 10, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Well, there's a way to solve all of those things in the ACP. Making it visable to certain groups would take a few simple minutes. Now making people who aren't vets able to see it would just take adding a second permission mask. Simple as that.
SpiralStatic - June 10, 2006 11:50 PM (GMT)
That's exactly why the Veteran group was renamed the "Respected Member" Group... we vote people in, we don't just give them the password...
Nate - June 11, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
ah... cause I would be a vet soon... Respected member... maybe someday but not for a long time.
Zephyr - June 11, 2006 07:13 AM (GMT)
The password can easily be leaked, and face it; there'll always be a high chance for it TO be leaked. People just have that many connections.

Why's it there in the first place, then? Oh, and...

I think it's there for... social purposes. With so many new members and new topics, it's nice to have a place where the vets/respected members can just hang out and post about old times and complain about new stuff. It's like old people hang-outs. ^_^
But, seriously. There are some things I'd like to say, but I'm not exactly comfortable with the whole forum/guests/whatever reading it. I've known the vets for a long time, I respect them, and I'm sure they wouldn't just scream at me for saying something or call me stupid or whatever. It's there to reassure that the old community can stay friends and chat no matter the other influences. It sounds kind of selfish of me to be saying it, but that's really how I see it. :/
Death Titan - June 11, 2006 04:08 PM (GMT)
Well now, since Sara has explained most of it I think everyones question has been answered
Nate - June 11, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
Actually Sara... I agree I want it so guests can't view a few things I post already *coughoffcialFEWpicturescough* and I really don't think they should view RPG rules because they could steal them... and a few other things but my big one is the first one.

Which is why I, for one, didn't post mine. That's a risk you take when you post it. People have seen my pics, just not publicly on a site.
Eh, the rules... If guests couldn't view the rules, they'd have less of a reason to join. Being able to see them gives them a rundown on how the site is run, and gives them an opinion on us sooner. If the guests couldn't see the rules, more would join, read them, and never come back. :/
Kaden - June 11, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, if people wanted the rules and couldn't view them as a guest, most of them would be smart enough to just join and leave, that simple. X_X Sara's got a point with most of this stuff, just listen to her. ^_^

Ok
A mask would still be better?

Yeah, I'd say a mask would be a LOT better. But you know, that's just my oppinion. X_X
LoZfan03 - June 11, 2006 05:43 PM (GMT)
sounds like a good idea, shouldn't be too hard for someone to do with a couple minutes free time.
respected members...that explains it...
Death Titan - June 11, 2006 06:20 PM (GMT)
Just make sure if you do a mask, change the permissions of the forums, cause then our beloved respected members couldn't post
Zephyr - June 11, 2006 06:30 PM (GMT)
It's not too hard to change mask settings. >_> Millions of forums do it.
Death Titan - June 11, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
I know that, its just a reminder cause the fact is that if you make the mistake of not setting the mask people can't post. Im not saying they'll forget im just posting it as a reminder
Kaden - June 11, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
Eh, they shouldn't have to worry about mistaking masks too much, it's a really simple job to just make a new one. Plus, it's even easier with IF.
