I've been pondering this for a while, as I work. Yeah, I'm bored at work most of the time. It's this thing called "Facing" - that is to say, placing enough items on the front of the shelves so it looks like you have more than you really do.
Now, I understand that part of this is to allow the customer easier access to the merchandise, but in a very real sense, it is also a blatant lie. You are attempting to sway the public by showing a false front, making it seem that you have fifty cans of soup when you really only have ten.
Also, this makes a lot of work for various and sundry people, who have to move and move a lot of the same things over and over again in a day.
Why can't Managers just leave such things for the end of the day? Why do it at all? Just leave it to when you actually HAVE stock and are putting it out on the shelves.
(Not, of course, that management can actually listen to a suggestion for once...)
And that leads to another topic of frustration: Pet Food.
There should be only one flavor of pet food in the world, PERIOD. There is probably about fifty different flavors or variations in our store, counting both cat and dog food. Was it chicken and gravy, or chicken, liver, and gravy? Argh!
Just a question; How do the pet food suppliers know what the food tastes like? Do they taste test it or something?
(Slightly irritated. BV)
(Hopefully I'll be on more, but you can never tell. More boring episodes later, I suppose.)
;)
Does this really belong in LUE? <_<
Yes, it does. The first part is a question of morality.
It does seem pretty... mean. People (meaning me) don't mind seeing less stuff. The first thinng I think of is that it all sold out, do it must be good. :/

Yes.
Though I'm kinda looped by how 10 cans can look like 50, even from the front.

Illusion. That's like, how can two parallel lines look wavey?
