Title: Fulll Metal Alchemist
Description: kinda new
Death Love - July 2, 2006 05:23 PM (GMT)
I understand El(w/e his name is) and Ed are brothers. But how did they lose their bodies? And what alchemy do they do. And Roy, why is he in a blue suit? And can some one explain the basics for me?
BTW, who did Dr.Marco kill?
Puff - July 2, 2006 05:30 PM (GMT)
I've only seen one episode and haven't really been too interested to figure any of that stuff out, so I couldn't help much... But, I just found this:
See "Story." You'll get a little video and a couple paragraph.By the way, "story" is at the top, right under "home."

ok Al and Ed
There brothers and they lost there body trying to break a law of alchemy by trying to revive there mother. Ed only lost his arm and Al lost his whole body. Before Al's spirit disapeered Ed sacrificed his leg to give him his giant metal armor body. He put a rune of blood on the back neck of the armor to make it so the body can keep the soul inside.
Alchemy is basically transforming matter into differant shapes and differant materials of the same element. Since a human is made of 70% water you could transform it into a body of water and the person would be gone.
Roy is a lieutenant in the army that's his uniform. His gloves he wears make sparks and he uses alchemy to compact pure oxygen into where the spark is and that's how he makes things explode. (this is all in a book I have :D)

How did they get their mom killed and they both are alchemists?
Nate - July 2, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
They are both alchemist there mom I dunno how she died
There father died when they were babies so they didn have parents for most there lives. They burned there house so they couldn't return and they forced the best alchemist trainer (someone good at alchemy) to teach them and when Ed saw the philosopher's stone he was able to use alchemy by clapping his hands together and pressing them on the thing he transmutes.

Alchemy is transmuting something...

| Transmute?? |
| QUOTE (dictionary.com) |
trans·mute ( P ) Pronunciation Key (trns-myt, trnz-) v. trans·mut·ed, trans·mut·ing, trans·mutes v. tr. To change from one form, nature, substance, or state into another; transform: Alchemists tried to transmute lead into gold. See Synonyms at convert.
v. intr. To undergo transmutation. |
| QUOTE (dictionary.com) |
al·che·my ( P ) Pronunciation Key (lk-m) n. A medieval chemical philosophy having as its asserted aims the transmutation of base metals into gold, the discovery of the panacea, and the preparation of the elixir of longevity. A seemingly magical power or process of transmuting: “He wondered by what alchemy it was changed, so that what sickened him one hour, maddened him with hunger the next” (Marjorie K. Rawlings). |

Actually that's better than what I said...

Alchemy is when one understands the structure of a matter, breaks it down, and rebuilds it.
Puff - July 2, 2006 11:41 PM (GMT)
Yea. Anyone ever heard of a giant book... it has a lot of words in it, and tells what they mean... Uhhh, what's the thing called again? A dictionary?
(-_- Sorry about the asshattery, my English teacher always used to do that to Norman.)
As for FMA, how many episodes are there?

dr marco created an experimental philosophers stone. the stone allows alchemists or people with special machines to break the laws of alchemy (to an extent). it was used in a war by other alchemist to create human war machines that could wipe out a battalion of rebels in 10 minutes.
roy mustang also regrets the fact that he was one of the alchemist with a philosopher stone

Their father did not die; Hoenheim (Sp?) appears later in the story, and is very much alive when he meets up with Ed.

But he does die... If you watch the movie.

And, ironically, to open the portal to Shambala, they used Envy. And that portal was a serpent biting its own tail. Which was also the Tattoo of Ouroboros.
SpiralStatic - July 7, 2006 11:57 PM (GMT)
And just for the record, 'twas Hoenheim which created Envy, in the anyway anyway. It was father in the manga.... but few people are that far, mwahahah

Honheim of light is good at alchemy. But, he goes through the gate and goes somewhere. I think the guy, at the end of the series is Honheim, but I am not sure. In one of the episodes they show Ed and his dad running away somewhere.
