Title: Touchy Subject

Hiei - July 28, 2006 08:00 PM (GMT)
I know this is a touchy subject to most of you, but I have a suggestion. Get rid of the Veteran's Board. Why? Well, nothing important is discussed there. It's just a hangout for the veterans. Sure, it sounds nice, but it really isn't needed. Why can't they just discuss things in General Discussion like everybody else? Why do they need a special, secluded place to discuss every day topics? I mean, if some important things that concerned the board were discussed in there, I may have a different view, but they aren't. It's just a mix between General Discussion/RI for older members. Wouldn't it be better to let ALL the member's talk together, instead of seperating the board into old and new?

Tranz-vestite - July 28, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Eh, it's pointless. I could get into it easily if I wanted to. =/ Do whatever you please with it.

Esgalglinion - July 28, 2006 08:10 PM (GMT)
Do you get posts from posting in veteran's?

I could get in too... simple easy code breaking... I know most codes are based off something or are a object... such as Grado's old password was a king... (And so was the leaders name :P) Yes I do my history... But ya I just gotta think a bit outta the box...

yea

Esgalglinion - July 28, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
Then I kinda agree with you, but seeing as I don't post in either general or Vet's, I couldn't care less about it.

Kaden - July 28, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
I gotta agree with hiei. I mean, not only is it just an RI, where older members have acess, and get posts, but it's also a place where they avoid rules. Look at that topic about DH in there.

SpiralStatic - July 28, 2006 10:22 PM (GMT)
Meh. I don't have an opinion on this matter. Either way, I don't really give a fuck.

sara13987 - July 28, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
We all know my opinion on this matter. :/

Question: If it is deleted/erased/whatever, will the topics be moved or deleted? Because my RL name is kinda pasted everywhere in there, and I'd prefer if it wasn't made public... -_- ;;;

Hiei - July 29, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
Deleted, I would hope. Considering nothing in there is important.

Kipdog - July 29, 2006 06:23 AM (GMT)
I like the vet room.

Kaden - July 29, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
The vet room would be fine, if you discussed important things in there. I saw it personally after I got the password, and now I don't really care if I get in or not. All it is basically, is a place for vets to spam, flame, troll, whatever... and not get warned. I say either moderate it, and discuss important issues, or get rid of it.

Me too.

And besides, if it's so not-important, then why is it so important to get rid of? It's just a place for vets to go and have fun. Kinda like a retirement home, and kinda not. It's like an RI, sure, but it's more fun than RI because you don't have to worry about spamming newbies trying to be funny.

Why can't the vets have fun without the new kids around?

Well then, why are new kids moderated but not vets?

Why do children get more punishments than adults? The new kids need to learn the ways of the forum; whereas, the vets already know.

Kaden's point debunked.

Would you like to point out for me just how many times I've broken the rules, dear? I'm sure I'm not the only one with this, um, situation. :/

I Have a Sandwich - July 29, 2006 08:17 PM (GMT)
Who cares? If its full of spam then its just spam that won't flow into the general forum. Since I'm not likely to get or care to recieve the pass, it just cleans up the forum for me.

Kyrillos - July 29, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
It can be deleted.

I'll just make a IF board that's for FEW Vets only, and we'll just pass the link around.

Kaden - July 29, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)
Well Sara, you may not have spammed or broken rules in there, but the darkhero topic was senseless flamming, that would've gotten a lot of regular members banned or suspended. He got suspended for flaming, so it's not fair if you guys get to flame him, and you don't get any punishment.

At least the SMART member apologized >>

Kaden - July 30, 2006 12:43 AM (GMT)
Very true, but how many of the others did? New members who flame, even if they appologize get suspended or banned.

Kyrillos - July 30, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
That'd be a WARN.

Anyways, alot of people get away with alot more than they used to.

sara13987 - July 30, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Kaden, honestly, everytime I think about that I feel guilty. I'd take it back if I could, and I'm sorry for even thinking of it. :/

I agree with Aien, actually, on that last comment.

It does clean the forum up a bit. :o

Things have gotten a bit out of hand at times, but, when the scenario is looked at as a whole, it's a place for vets to simply sit back, relax, and be themselves, without the eyes of guests and/or new members peering in on their lives. I'd like to be able to say what I please without having some newbie figure out my real name, or any other personal information, for that matter. (as if it's not on the site already. It's actually a name all FEW RPG participants have seen, for the most part. Some of you just never noticed, that's all.)

I've done my fair share of irresponsible shit in the past. Doesn't mean we can't learn from the immaturity, and get past these problems. We can't get do that if we simply get rid of the forum. Keep it, and let us prove to ourselves that we can get over such problems.

Puff's point prevails, in my opinion. Keep the Vet's forum.

Edit: Sara's right, as well. Aien's point is true; no use denying it. Take Kaden's sig, for example. We'd never bag on him for it now, but imagine if he was a new member. We'd jump him immediately. :/

Death Love - July 31, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
Wait, wait, wait new kids? New kids, and older members. That making me laugh like crazy. So I guess Tranz is new, and he is a spammer? Why shouldn't the mature new members get to go into the vet?

QUOTE (hiei)
Also, the Veteran's Room at FEW is also bull shit. It's pretty much a place for the "popular," "More Elite" members to gossip. It's like high school clicks. It's place for the people that run the forum. Everyone who's in it thinks of it as a "sanctuary from new members." Maybe if they didn't isolate themselves, new members wouldn't feel excluded and they would be more inclined to stay. Oh well, I'm sick of this bull shit.
-Heeaye

Thats the real truth behind veteran. Normally I wouldn't care, but seeing how they(you guys above) say New members aren't suppose to be in there , makes me sick. Cause when you guys say it, I think it is relative to saying all new members are immature.

~edit

What the ? Sara , you flamed me. TO think.....oh god, with that much information on me. I hate you. I hate you a lot. I know hatred is not going to do anything, but it helps me keep the tremendous flame I am about to say inside. Wow, Hiei is right about the gossiping thing.

sara13987 - July 31, 2006 04:01 PM (GMT)
As I've said, I'm not proud of my actions. However, I'll accept full responibility for them, and I'll take whatever consequences those actions desereve, whether it be suspension, banning, or whatever.

I Have a Sandwich - July 31, 2006 04:04 PM (GMT)
Oh wah. Just because you're a mature member that doesn't qualify as the definition of verteran, and even if you are an old member you shouldn't automatically get in. Who'd want a whiney snot who's been on so long everyones tired of em in there anyway?

So you admit you flamed me? And looking at your status, you being banned, suspended, or even I.P. banned will not happn to you.

sara13987 - July 31, 2006 04:06 PM (GMT)
Flame wasn't the word. I trolled, yes. I posted something extremely immature of me, yes. I doubt any of these would qualify as a flame, however.

I'm sorry. That's all I can say.

I Have a Sandwich - July 31, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
Don't apologize sara. He's just upset he doesn't have access to the room.

Sara doesn't have enemies on FEW, and we know she's a sweetheart and doesn't, erm, what's the word? Disrespect people often. And plus, she said she's willing to take full responsibility, whereas you won't even take the consequences dealt to you for yelling at your sister. Stop whinning, you're being a hypocrite. Noone likes a hypocrite.

Anyways.. I think I had some opinions. First off, Hiei spelled "cliques" wrong. There we go.
Secondly, I agree with I.H.A.Sandwhich there.
Aaaand... Just because they're mature to start with, doesn't mean they won't change once they get used to the bored. What's saying Tranz really is like the other two Boscos? Let 'em get to know the bored, and plus new members don't really need to know what goes on behind the scenes. AHA! Say you're part of the new audience at a play; do they let you go back and see what's happening? No. Or, say even, you're following a band on tour. Do they let you hang with the band even though you've been around for awhile? Maybe, maybe not.
Another thing, I can't get into the vet bored and I'm not complaining. It doesn't make me feel uncomfortable or want to leave 'cause "Oh noes! I don't know what they're talking about! What if it's about me?! T____T" Yea. No. Stop whining.
Plus, the vet room could also be like, a reward for being so dedicated to the board. As you see, some people are still here from 2004. We don't know if new members are going to be that dedicated, so why waste time giving them the password just to find out they haven't gotten past 5 posts?

sara13987 - July 31, 2006 04:33 PM (GMT)
Guys, I appreciate you backing me up and all, but I can handle this myself. :/

Tranz-vestite - July 31, 2006 06:15 PM (GMT)
Hm... Password is.. ******? ;)

Juan - July 31, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
I don't mind having a Vet forum. I don't mind it all, As long as it is monitered just like the rest of the site. Which means that if you flame/troll/or anything of the sort you should get warned for it. I had the opportunity to see the topic about darkhero and tio tell you all the truth... It's just plain disrespectful, If you don't have anything better to do other than to contimplate ways how to get someone banned. Shit, even I have more sense than that, wait not sense Honor than that. If you can't say it to his face then don't say it at all. To me the only title worth a damn if Admin. All the other are just plain dumb. Respected members, Just a fancy words for older members. The vet forum is a joke. well there are my two cents, What you with them I could care less.

Kaden - July 31, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
... Tranz Owns. XD Somebody told me the pass again a while ago, but I forgot who.

@Puff: I think Aien was banned 3 times.

If you really want to keep the vet forum, just permission mask it, simple as that. Then you don't have to worry about the password being leaked.

That may be hard. Because then what if we want somebody in the normal member group in there? That would give access to all normal members. Okay I could of had a better example because that's easy to counter, but you should understand what my point it.

Kaden - August 1, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
I understand your point, but all you would have to do is go into the ACP, and give the person extra permission masks, it's really simple.

Down and Out - August 1, 2006 03:06 AM (GMT)
Okay I haven't been an admin for a long while...Can you give permission to forums to just certain people?
