What happened to the word filters? This place is making me sick with all the obscene language

LoZfan03 - July 31, 2006 10:19 PM (GMT)
...there were word filters??? if so, I'd like them back as well. if not, I'd like them instated.

Puff - July 31, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
Sorry for sounding rude, but if you're not mature enough to handle a few vulgar words... then should you really be on the internet?

dark menace - July 31, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
Its not me thats the problem, its my security system that blocks every page that contains anything even remotely similiar to a vulgar word, and the lengthy process I have to go through to take off the security system, and the risks it puts me from being banned by the parents for sneaking around their back

Besides, it discourages new members to stay. It makes a terrible first impression. And second and third and fourth impression

Valter - August 1, 2006 12:08 AM (GMT)
*long line of cursing that involves in getting banned*
I don't renember any...

Tranz-vestite - August 1, 2006 12:17 AM (GMT)
They're words. Deal with them.

if you aren't mature enough to restrain yourself, should you really be on the internet?

What's the point of using vulgar words.... It doesn't help in any way and it's just being rude...

If you can't contain yourself, you shouldn't be communicating with people

Oh, and Aien, I dunno what the root admins were doing when they gave you administration, because you obviously aren't mature enough to do an acceptable job

And your first amendment stops when it offends someone who doesn't want to listen to it

And those filters were awesome and you know it, Strikey boy

Esgalglinion - August 3, 2006 06:15 PM (GMT)
Words are words. A lot of members here have restrained themselves from using any kind of vulgar word. Although I generally don't use those words, I think they're a way to inforce some other words. They're like adverbs.

I believe it was Hiei that brought up the suggestion about removing filters, because if we couldn't hold back our language, we wouldn't be able to proceed to the better sites area.

And if you ask me, I'd rather see the word instead of <blocked>. Feels like some sort of regime where you can't say what you want otherwise.

Lades - August 3, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
Well Fuck. Why can't we just say what we want? The only the filter we need is for "Maxime chops his dick off"

LoZfan03 - August 4, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
then again, I suppose those unfiltered words can be useful. it shows you who has a poor imagination/vocabulary (could be either or both, depending on the situation, of course) and an uncivilized mind

^_^

Nate - August 4, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
I dunno... either way I don't care... you could bring em back... or you could teach people proper language...

Puff - August 4, 2006 11:03 PM (GMT)
Here's another look at it...

It's the INTERNET. How else are people going to show their emotions on certain subjects? Jump through the computer screen and beat your brain out? I don't think sooo. They're only words for showing emotions. You can't get the same feeling from "crap" as you do with "shit," or "freak" and "fuck." And et cetra... Savy?

how does making us listen to your problems help? you could complain out loud to yourself at home and probably get more sympathy anyway...

Try reading, dear. I said nothing about personal problems. Only general emotions over subjects. Example: Hiei's suggestions. There's so much bickering over each one. Some agree, some don't. A way to fully... um... I guess "express" is a better word. The only way to fully express ourselves sometimes is to use more vulgar language, 'cause like I previous said, it's the internet and it's not like we can see or hear eachother. Got it?

I think your lack of grammar is a bigger problem than anyone using an improper word. I mean, seriously, no one's gonna listen to you unless you improve your grammar.

I'm going to pretend I didn't read that and go back to assuming you are an otherwise intelligent person.

I realize what you mean, my response didn't come out the way I meant it exactly. I just disagree that anyone needs to use foul language to express themselves. I'll admit that some people have it ingrained so heavily that it might be hard not to, but that doesn't make it right.
