Ok every year at the beggining of school teachers always talk about how were differant and how we should be proud of it... but at the end durring the SAT's they generalize us and tell us were all the same... what kind of BS is that? If were all differant how are we all the same? I would like that anwsered... logically.
They're lieing END OF STORY! I won't tell when they're lieing though, DUN DUN DUNNNNN!
I know what you mean. I've had to sit through assemblies where they try to preach diversity AND equality/uniformity at the same time.
As for an answer, we all have differing strengths and weaknesses and abilities and talents... as well as cultures, backgrounds, thought processes, etc. This means that everyone's got something... unique. This much is pretty obvious.
Stuff like SAT measures one/a few of these talents... and tries to use that for a general view on how good a student someone is. Hopefully, it does evaluate ALL of the things that makes one a good student – since that's its purpose – but it cannot... it's nigh impossible. Even so, they'll put all of us onto one scale based on that score.
Looking at a humanitarian view, though, every life has value. Everyone can add something to the world, if they just try. Obviously, we've had many humans who have taken away far more than they've ever given. But we've had others who gave much more than required. And while some do more or less than others, everyone has that chance to contribute something to at least one life.
On a religious scale, I believe that we are all children of God, and as such we all have a divine purpose. If nothing else, he loves every one of us, and that is one way we are all the same. We are all loved and all desired to make good choices and return to Him.
All told, though, it is pretty frustrating when the schools use one tool to evaluate the world of detailes in humanity and place us onto one scale. Like GPA, we see only one number that is the result of millions of factors.
My teachers say that too....
CONSPIRACY!!!
