I havea complaint about the graphics forum.

It would seem that our judges only comment on signature they like, and they don't give a ranking for anything anymore.

Normally, this wouldn't offend me, EXCEPT that I havn't seen them comment on any of mine for the past three weeks, or if they have, it was very little, to no constructive feedback.

If they don't get their act togther, I suggest scrapping the Graphics Forum completely.

It just bugs me when I drop, then see that a topic made after mine is getting posts by judges. That means that they choose to ignore mine, and thats not right. Now I could understand if they just clicked the most recent from the main page, but often times mine will be the recent topic, and another topic made before mine gets ranked. They see, they choose to ignore it. Its not about time, its about a conscious lack of effort.

Except for the fact that I see one of them on the forums for at least 30 minutes a night, which is easily enough to finish what they need to, and go through evreything.

Also, Aldoran, never try to use what I say against my self, as I word what I say carefully enough to beat the shit out of you if you try that. I'll say this:

I have a life starting August 25, as does the rest of FEW. If I see someone rank 4 signatures, and post at least one of their own, the obviously had time to do more ranking, espicially since many topics go unranked.

Crystal abondoned FEW awhile ago. I don't care what groups she's in.
Hiei is on for at least 30 minutes a night. 'Nuff Said.
Gogeta/Omega comes on about once or twice a week for around 30 minutes to an hour.
I could rank all the topics unranked in 5 minutes back when I was considered "Good" with graphics and I was a judge. In fact, the entire GRAPHIC COMPETITION was Hiei and MY idea. [cough]
Zeyph is somewhat untrusted by many FEW'ers, espicially the veterans for certain instances in the past.
Kaden is slightly biased. Then again, most of the judges and GFX'ers here are slightly biased >>

I personally don't pay attention to the graphics forum, but this really doesn't surprise me at all.

I'm biased? Bull shit! (Okay, I am, but I want to argue.) The only reason I've been biased against richie and zeph, is because I know how they do thier stuff. It's just exclusion + a few filters, they don't even make thier damn backgrounds. No different from C4Ds. (May be over the edge, but yeah, gogeta agrees, just ask him.)

As for the judging problem, I believe gogeta mentioned that a long time ago, and wanted me promoted, to replace richie BEFORE richie was banned. I've reminded alex a few times and nothing has happened. (I've told alex that now this topic has been started, not to promote me, and to let the members decide.)

After complaining about that stuff, I'd support Aien as being a graphics judge if no one else was added. Seeing as Zeph isn't trusted, probably the next choice for the staff would be aien. Not a big fan of the work, or the person, but he definitally has the ability to judge.

I'm fine with it. I'd say promote Zephyr too because, even though he isn't the most liked member here, he is a good judge and most of his ratings are accurate.

Also- I've been really busy the past two weeks, I have to projects to get done BEFORE school starts, I have a trip to pack for, concentrate on practicing forms and working on my stamina so I can be ready to recieve my black belt this year, and I have a lot of other things to do besides that.

Zephyr just isn't liked. Does that make him stupid? Not at all. The fact that he doesn't like FEW effect it? Yes it does. =x

Zeph seems fine to me... a tad eccentric but he's fine for a judge. Aien would be great if he has more time. Hiei... should judge instead of just have the power... and do nothing but sit on his butt and judge his friends. (I've been skipped so much I'm starting to see why Hiei has been hated in the past...) Reyde has the additude for a judge if you ask me... just not the knowledge required. Lades could if he got better. Kaden could... if he wasn't biased it would be alot easier to agree with (but hey... everyone is biased.) Richie was a great judge before he got banned... And Karn would be a good judge I don't see anybody he likes more than another (well... in terms of ranking not of friends...) Grondy would be great... if he did graphics... and I sorta wish we could get Shadow back... he was great at judging things...

If someone teaches me what to look for while judging; I'd be happy to help in my spair time. :unsure:

First off, I only generally use that exclusion technique on avatars. Let's take the latest eight banners that I have recently made, and I shall give you a semi-breakdown on how I created them (in general, quick terms).


There was no exclusioning used in that--at all. It was actually a combination of filters (waves), gradients, photo filters, and curves.


This was a really simple banner I made for Santi over at FEFF. I used no exclusioning in this either, but rather abused Photoshop's "Apply Image" technique.


This is (according to various others) one of, if not my best, banner(s). There is absolutely no exclusioning in that and I made every single bit of the background using grunge techniques. I'm not exactly fond of grungeish banners, but hey, that's more of a personal preference. Several others seemed to love it.

Hah, I'll admit--I did use exclusion on this one. Along with Apply Images + filters and some brushes.


No exclusioning was done in this, but rather I used smudging, ripples, and other effects. I aimed for more better-looking text, and I think I got it down right enough. It's still simple looking.


I used several smudging techniques on this, along with hues, filters and gradients.

Also, I doubt Richie abuses exclusioning...it's not really that hard to tell when someone used exclusions in a sig. And it's more of an avvy thing.

I come to FEW chiefly for their GFX board; it entertains me. Take it away and you'll see less of me (or possibly none). I don't mind becoming a Judge or not.

Kaden - No. He's fine.

Aien - Yes. In my opinion (which probably isn't valued here), someone acting as a JUDGE should be very well experienced in the field that they're actually judging. Is Aien necessarily bad at GFX? No, not really. He has a unique style, but it...isn't really that good (and I know he can go on for hours arguing, but it's my opinion).

Aien, you're a staff member right? Why are you so wholeheartedly flaming? You've been banned in the past, I don't see why you have to constantly go at it so offensively all the time. Asking someone to warn you because you KNOW your post was offensive....I hate to backseat mod like this, but seriously, that's not really a valued virtue (assuming Roleplay Moderators are considered staff here).

I'm technically 'Not Staff', and technically probably wouldn't have been warned for that anyways. I'm all for seeing a crackdown on things around here. I also say whatever the hell I want to without any remorse sometimes, simply because I want to get my opinion out. FAce it, Warns around here are more like verbal warnings in a little box to the side.

I'm serious. I was the last person, period, to have something come of that.

@Zeph: Yeah, I posted that before I looked back over the GFX forums, I hadn't seen any of the more recent work. But that older JEW sig of yours was definitally exclusion'd. The more recent stuff is a LOT better IMO.

@Aien: You technically are staff, I mean, you got a cool little member icon, and seem to be held at a higher standard than regular members.

So, pretty much what we've decided is to promote two more GFX judges. And from the looks of it, I think it might be zephyr and myself.

I think that's the deal.

I don't think Zephyr comes here anymore. Does he only check the GFX forums? I'm too lazy to check it out.

He's quite active in the GFX forums, and that's it. He comes here just for them.

Edit: And may I suggest a new rule. From now on, to keep things organized, I think there should be a rule, that the topic title has to contain certain bits of info. Username, and drop number for the week. It'd be easier for judges to get around to things if they are weren't titled "drop."
