Title: September 11th

Kaden - September 11, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
I believe that this is where this topic should go. Tomorrow, or in fact, in less than four hours my time, it makes five years since September 11th, 2001. I thought I'd just make a topic for discussion because I'm sure it is bound to happen anyway. One question I'd like to ask you all. Do you remember where you were when the planes hit? I was in 3rd grade, it was a tuesday (I know that because that was a PEAK day), and I was eating lunch. When I was walking out of the room, the teacher stopped us all, and told us that something had happened, and that we should talk to our parents about it when we got home. So when I got home, they were both working, so it was me and my brothers. We watched tv for about and hour, and invited a bunch of people over. By 11 PM that night, our parents were just getting home, and we had 45 friends over, staring at the TV. Five years later, I still remember every minute of that day...

Sixth grade math class. This was a catholic school, and so everyone got to go home early as a day of mourning. When I got home, I went over to a frieds house and we watched the tv in his kitchen with it goin on.

Seventh Grade, watching TV to figure out what the weather was going to be like before I went to school. I personally had to usher my dad out the door as he tried to tell my mother everything. At the time, I couldn't have cared less what had gone on; I just needed to get to school on time.

Turns out, half the school didn't show up, anyway.

Seventh grade lunch. Someone told me that terrorists had flown planes into the Twin Towers and I said "Yeah right." When I got home I found out it was true.

6th grade math class, NYC. I remember my homeroom teacher talking to this girl, who was crying and she took her to go call someone. Later, at around lunchtime, a friend of mine got pulled out of school by his father, said something I vaguely remember/heard, about a bomb going off, or something like that. Then, in the afternoon, during social studies, my parents came and pulled me out of school. We went and picked up my sister, and my cousin, who's dad couldn't pick up because NYC was in total gridlock and he was on the other side of town. Really grim day... it was "cloudy" for weeks.

i remember that day. i just when to a new school. math was just beginning. my teacher likes to play the news during class then she nearly choked on her coffee when she hear what happened then she left and told everyone what happened. i wass left petrified because i thought my dad was near there. i later found out that he's ok but i was a little bitch for about 3 weeks. i was parniod about everything.

off topic: kaden what grade are you in now? 3rd grade then so are you in the 8th now?

6th grade math class. Upon arriving to the classroom the class found the teacher in tears with the tv behind her. We watched it for the entire class because our teacher couldn't compose herself. Even at that age all I could think was, "You just let them win idiot."

WHY WAS EVERYONE IN F***IN MATH!?

Lades - September 11, 2006 12:18 PM (GMT)
7th Grade Math Class. We all just shrugged it off. We were a bunch of insensitive bastards then. My math teachers son came in, cause he was a cop, and told her, and then she told us. He all talked about it for one period, and went about our lives the rest of the day.

It was my 6:th school year, or 7:th grade for you guys. Since it was somewhat late when it happened over here, I kinda shrugged it off at first. It wasn't until the day after that I actually got to know what really happened.

6th grade. I remember coming in after lunch, and my teacher looked really distraught. I had band that afternoon, and in one/both classes, they just let us listen to the radio. When I got home, I invited a friend over and we just kinda stayed in my room because I was sick of the news already. :/

Later on, the planes diverted from the US landed at the airport nearby, and all over the island. We made welcome posters for them... I can't imagine how hard it was for those people.

September eleventh is my birthday. Today is my birthday.

*hums* happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me!

oops nvm....

I really hate those damn terrorists right now. Five years ago, I was like playing gameboy or something in my room, and I hear my dad yell, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD! On my birthday, I was cussed out by an angry father. My parents had let me skip school because it was my birthday, but I had some homework. But that's not why I hate them. I hate them because they just had to be little bastards and wreck our country just because our religion is different. I don't really care, I hang out with like twelve different races of people daily, but I mean how evil are these people? But on a happier note, because ot's my birthday...

:ihavepie:

I'm not sure why, but I'm actually not sure that those people aren't really bullying your country because of your beliefs or religion. If that was the reason, they would've, say, just attacked Sweden, since we're closer to them than you are.

I think the main reason is because USA is the most powerful country in the world. The objective of terrorists are to invoke terror (no shit) to those not on their side. There is no better way to do that than to strike a blow where it hurts the most. If you know what I mean.

I don't want to start a discussion of any kind, really, since I'm too lazy to do that. However, I think that Bush is wrong in saying that religion or jealousy is the root to this.

It is really a religion war. The USA is seen, not as the most powerful country in the world, but as the largest blasphemer against Allah (sp?). They've said this themselves in tapes they've recorded.

9th Grade P.E. We heard it over the announcements that the W.T.C got bombed. The teachers let us watch news for the rest of the day. We were all freaking out.

And the reason for why USA is seen as the biggest blasphemers is because of their constant involvement in the Middle East. The terrorists says that they're using Jihad as an answer to that (Jihad is a Holy War in defense, for those who didn't know), as using religion as the reason gets you more followers than saying the truth. If they say that their mission is straight from the god, people accept it easier as it is from some sort of might instead of mere humans.

I won't post anything more in this topic from now on, because I find the whole thing distasteful of fundamentalism.

They say we're blasphemers because our culture is less strictly based off of the Kuran. We allow women rights, we are majorly catholic/christian, and we're not muslim.

I know I'm late posting, but I didn't read this until just now.

September 11, I was sitting behind a desk waiting to answer phones for the internet company that I volunteered time with. My supervisor walked in and went to her office, coming out a few minutes later to tell us all that we had to listen to the radio. She turned it up, and we heard that a plane had just crashed into the first tower. A couple of my coworkers were trying to bring up news online, as this happened and as the day went on we found out that not only had TWO planes crashed into the towers and one into the Pentagon, but that the airports were being shut down all across the nation.

The building that our office was in was originally a hotel, and since the airports closed down, all the hotels in town were asked to open up and take them in until travel arrangements could be made. The staff in the building was pretty busy, trying to arrange things, and we ended up giving them some help through the day. There weren't a lot of people that needed a space there, but it was made available.

Later on that day I got a call from my parents, seems like they wanted to let me know what was going on, and make sure that I was doing okay.
