Title: LOL, Necropost?

The Entertainer - October 5, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
Got warned for posting in a topic that was on the top of the Updates Page... Why am I being punished for the lack of this sites activity? I couldn't GET any more recent than where I posted..

King I know your pissed off at me because of some joke you didn't get on MSN, but this is no way to take out your anger! I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS INJUSTICE.

Some of the topics in this forum are so dead that necroposting is the only way to make new posts.

Just edit the cutoff to avoid necroposting.

Hiei - October 5, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
It was the most recent topic with a post in it, and it was in announcements... I think that can slide? Announcements are different, atleast I think. The point of no necroposting is to keep things fresh, so a new topic is generally better. But if it's on the first page, a new topic is just stupid. He wanted to add input, and that was definitely better than posting a new topic, so I don't think he should be warned.

He shouldn't be warned. Anyone who can post a useful opnion should be allowed to post after to weeks only in the annoucements forum.

Did you not read his post? It wasn't a useful opinion.

The Entertainer - October 5, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Wasn't spam.

You can argue as to whether a post is useful or not with almost any post in this forum.. so don't bother.

LoZfan03 - October 5, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
what's so hard about creating a new topic?

The Entertainer - October 5, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
I'm going to start a new topic to say:

" I almost considered resigning from Forum Team Associate, but then I realized FEW would probably not survive the transition.

Besides, it's taken me over two years to make it to this position of such prestige... I'd be a fool to throw it away!"

... ??

I thought that the two weeks didn't apply to updates. . . Maybe that was in one of our old rule drafts. Either way, I agree that announcements should be different.

KuraiKitsune - October 5, 2006 11:33 PM (GMT)
Agreed. Updates are different, in some ways. I usually treat them like stickies, myself. But hey, to each his own. :/

The Entertainer - October 16, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
Couple of things.

First of all, I'm still warned. Why? Most people agree with me, and King (the guy who warned me) hasn't even replied to the topic.

Another thing. Vashies is banned for doing 4 necro posts..

-One was in the Ad Memorium
-One was a stickied topic
-One was still on the first page of updates

.... WTF? Not sure if you dislike the guy or whatever the deal is, but it's pretty sad to see him banned...

The fact is he posted in a DEAD PART OF THE FORUM, not a 10 page topic. You can't blame the guy for the inactivity of certain parts of this forum, not his fault a two month old topic was still on the first page.

People don't seem to understand the point of why necroposting was made a rule in the first place. It was so that old topics that no one liked/payed attention to wouldn't all of a sudden pop back into the top of the ranks because of some idiot who clicked last page.

HOW is it of any offense to the community if someone posts in a topic that's already on the first fucking page? YES, the topics in question were old, but NO he did not have to do any digging to find them and the only reason why they were "old" in the first place was because no one bothers to pay attention to that part of the forum anymore!

EDIT: Just noticed how many fucking tries at getting himself banned Vashies made - so fuck him. But regardless, points still stand as does my warning. Please fix this or come up with a valid reason as to why I still have it.

I Have a Sandwich - October 16, 2006 09:54 PM (GMT)
Stop whining and deal. Its a f***in forum.

The Entertainer - October 17, 2006 02:12 AM (GMT)
I am dealing. I've been warned, and in this topic I'm obviously explaining why I don't think it's a valid warn...

If stating my points to support my complaint is whining I strongly suggest you disconnect your internet connection and maybe find a new way to spend your time, since your going to be seeing a lot more "whining" as you venture futher and further into the cyber world!

Just a suggestion.

I Have a Sandwich - October 17, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
Youre whining. You got a warn. Whoop die do. As long as you don't get another you'll be fine.

KuraiKitsune - October 17, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
I, for one, think it's time you've had your warning removed. You've made your point, and everyone seems to support it.

However.

Saying "Yay!" in a stickied topic that was a year (two years? I dunno.) old is spam as well as necroposting. For a stickied topic, necroposting isn't a problem. Meaningless spam is.

In the Updates, I can understand if the post is relevant. His weren't. Spam is spam.

Removing Warning. (If I don't have the authority to do this, then I apologize in advance.)
