Whoa... And like, WHOA!
Okay, all kidding aside, I was quite impressed by the CGI quality. The in-game cutscenes are really, really good. Of course, this is just my first impressions without actually having played the game - my sister has it and is jealously guarding it with her life. Well, the fact that I've had to go to work for the last couple of days and she hasn't, kinda helps.
Anyway, anyone else playing?
I'll buy it eventually. It looks super-good.
I'm thinking of selling all my old PS2 games I don't play anymore. I think I have enough of 'em to merit $50 and buy FFXII.
Collector's Edition as soon as I get another $20.
IVALICE! COME TO ME!
Okay! I finally (read: FINALLY) got some playing time the last couple of days. The free roaming ability, coupled with the pan view using the right analog stick took some time to adjust to, but I think it works out really well, considering:
A. They never had anything quite like this before.
They seem to have taken great elements of previous games and revamped them in XII. A lot of older common weapons, especially. Too bad they didn't allow for dual wielding swords...that would have been cool.
The License Point system is certainly unique, and at times annoying. And earning gil by selling loot that you pick up from defeated enemies makes more sense than finding random gil dropped by said enemies.
They kept the Save states Healing and Restoring functions from X, as well as added a few that allow you to teleport from town to town, provided you've been there before and have Teleport Stones.
