I have a question for a large percentage of the male population on FEW: Why do you feel the need to constantly suck up to the females, and give them special attention? Not to be rude, but there's 1 somewhat attractive female on this forum, and that's it. The rest are about average, some a bit below. Their personalities aren't anything incredible, they all have flaws. The way they get treated though, you'd think they were daughters of god. Is it some sort of attempt to get an e-lover? Cause if it is, there are better approaches I assure you. Most girls, atleast from what I've experienced, like guys that are sensitive, but not total suck-ups.

Example: Sara is a nice girl, a close friend of mine, but why does everyone constantly kiss her ass? Sure, she's cool, but she's no cooler than Alex. :-/

Most guys will suck up to girls whether they no it or not from my experience. Way it is. However, Gender-based treatment is a lil messed-up.

Quoted for emphasis and agreement. There's a difference between sucking up and just refraining from making sexist comments. No offense to you Hiei, but you do make a lot of sexist comments, whether joking or not, and even that can get on anyone's nerves. Women just happen to take a lot of abuse on part of gender, and a lot of guys overcompensate by being nice. It doesn't mean they intentionally suck up, it just happens.

My oppinions...

1. It's what guys get used to, and it's what some people do all through life.
2. These may be the only females that some of these people get to talk to other than they're mom.
3. They may not be trying to, it just might happen.

See, well, we both know I don't tolerate behaviour that guys get on with among other guys. I, normally, won't stand for any sexual conversation and I very much dislike strong language. I know I'm not the nicest person ever, yeah, but guys treat me no differently than I treat them. Alot of them will make time for me if I need someone to talk to, and that in itself is just... nice. It's not unheard of and it's not special attention; it's just being a nice guy. Some guys here have some knight-in-shining-armor instinct, where there will always help people (especially girls) if they're in trouble. It's part of who they are; they're not treating anyone differently on purpose.

However, if you can physically provide me with proof that I have been sucked up to, then I'm completely sorry about all of this. I'm just providing my opinion, just as you are. I have not been warned, no. This is not because of bias, but merely because I don't break many rules. That's just the person I am. The major time I've messed up (which I still regret, mind you), well... wasn't it one of my first times that merited warning? When you look around, most of the constant rule-breaking that goes on here only gets verbal warnings. Shouldn't I deserve the same treatment, being an equal member of this forum? :/

Seriously. I don't have anything against women, but I don't give them any more benefit of the doubt that I give dudes. Granted, if it's a hot girl, I'll naturally want to "woo" her, whether that includes being sly, intelligent, or just plain nice. On the other hand, whether the girl is hot or not, on the internet, it's just not worth the spare time. Unless I consider a girl a true friend, I won't usually waste my time on her. Yeah, I wouldn't say that I "suck up" to the girls here, or anywhere really. Unless you say that "sucking up" includes being especially nice or sweet. If so, I suck up to girls all the time. Its true that I talk to sara more than anyone else here, but isnt it completely natural (for most men) to want to talk to girls more than a guy? I can really talk to a girl cause I know they'll listen and give an honest opinion. However, guys compete and fight and shoot spitballs at each other, and because I get that normally at school (aside from the spitballs) I have absolutely no desire to continue that during me free time.

Sure, there are a lot of girls that get guys just to "fall back on" when they lose their current "boy toy." There are the desperate girls. And the girls that are just plain sleezey. Statement #2: Not exactly true. Not all guys I know have logic. Take my best guy friend. He's one of the most common-sense challenged people I know. Most of it is acting, yes, but we could all say the exact same for me.

Agreed. As Sara's said, I've seen guys were were book smart and had common sense... but, then again, I've also seen women do much better in scholastic activities than most men. I'm not putting forth a 'girls are smarter than guys, dur dur' sort of message, but I'm merely providing a nice counterexample to that stereotypical sentiment. :/

Girls can never be friends with guys. Its impossible. Guys can be friends with eachother, because they are not opposite. But girls are the opposite, so they attract, but the opposite that attracts to the guys is a different kind of attraction. Males are not opposite, so they dont attract in the same sense as a female would to a male, but they are friends, so they come across it via a completely different way. They do not attract, but they can still be next to eachother. But just not as close as say, the opposite. Because there will still be something pushing away, cause the two same forces cant come together.

3. I get cold. :/ So what the heck is that point supposed to prove? It's not an act. It's a natural response that your body has to the external environment.

4. Now, if we're opposites, we'd attract, see. >.< Positives attract negatives, according to your logic. If this is the case, then women would actually be friends with men, but women could not be friends with women and men could not be friends with men, since alike charges push each other apart.

That argument could be applied to Hiei's posts about people sucking up to girls or w/e. But, although I don't personally think it's worth arguing with hiei about gender roles or whatever, what he's saying is worse than what anyone sucking up to girls is saying (I assume).

At the same time, one reason why I've always been fine with Hiei's stuff, no matter how much I dislike it, is that it never seems as mean spirited as (some) of the responses to it. Flamebait for certain, but I'm personally someone who thinks flamebait is not too terrible a thing. I mean, come on, he put "roooooof" like a doggy before his "guys have logic" post.

From personal experience, I've come to believe that girls are most often treated differently when they're on video games, forums, etc with many more guys than girls. In the case that people find out someone is a girl, that girl will be almost invariably be barraged with anything from insults to marriage proposals. It's better on forums than, say, a chatroom - when I played WC3, someone would 100% of the time ask for proof from the girl, like a photo over IM or whatever.

On a forum there's a more general feeling of patience, I guess, since you 'see' everyone else more often, but it still happens.

Actually, I did pick up that the whole strikeraider/alex fight was faked almost immediately, but other than that I so damned staid I'm pretty impersonable around most people in real life (though I've noticed that usually helps make friends, oddly enough), let alone on forums.

There are, technically, all kinds of proofs one way or another. For instance, girls do better in school. At the same time, nearly all of the best mathemeticians and such are guys - there are, of course, exceptions. However you look at any sort of analysis of the gender of intelligence, you fall into the problem of possible discrimination or poorly managed schools, education fields, or whatever. Just like you do when you look at the "color of crime".

Personally, I've found things are completely random. For my first two years I thought every girl in my school was stupid. Then in junior year I ended up with a bunch of smart and mostly hot girls in a bunch of my high level classes, and besides finding classes interesting for once I had my first relationship which wasn't (entirely) for sex (Sevvy became a one woman man! Though he was the one to break it up). So I learned out there were other reasons for girlfriends besides sex.

The downside is that the english block I'm in this year, which is the highest available for seniors besides what I took junior year, is filled with a bunch of dumb hot girls who think they're smart. And stupid guys too, but they aren't very attractive to me.

I would say I find girls to act a more emotional and less rational than guys do in normal circumstances, but I'm convinced that's because they really feel like they have to act that way. Mainly because I've seen a lot of them actually act with much more common sense whenever they're dealing with something semiserious, or more than.

Even IRL alone, you don't have to stick with 1. So you don't have to be that way online, either.

But I'm in the same situation of not being jerky to women online and not being single...Well, I am single atm but I'm not always single. Well, in all seriousness, I do cook on a relatively high level for a teen who doesn't work in any restaurants. I don't cook often, but I've learned a lot of advanced stuff by helping my parents during the holidays. We have large groups of people over at times, so if all the cooking was left to just my two parents things'd get hectic.

Bok Choi, lambchops and rack of lamb, salmon (with pesto, miso, and other stuff), steak, fried chicken, gnocchi (this weird pasta, most likely Italian, I've made from scratch), and chocolate strawberry tart are among the things I've learned to make.

But those are all things I've made...4 or 5 times at most, 2 or three times minimum. Day to day, I rely on my parents. And I suspect that's only because they're both home around 7:00 PM on the average day, so they have to make dinner together most of the time or eat too late. And I'm sure as hell not making it most of the time, not home early enough for that and school work.

If I had to say one or the other, my mom probably cooks more.

I suppose this has nothing to do with women. But cooking is one of my only nonschool talents, so it is consequently about the only thing I have to brag about.

EDIT-When I think about it, though, I've never made any food for anyone I've gone out with. Because it'd be unmanly.
