I play a few different styles of guitar and i think ive finally hit a rut. I've been playing for about 2 years and I'm classically trained, i can also play a seven-string. and fellow guitarists have a way out of this rut? (I cant come up with solos, cant come up with many riffs and i feel burnt out)
Just stop for a while. I haven't written a full song in a while, I'm in kind of a rut myself. I once stopped playing for a couple of weeks because I felt I wasn't getting anywhere. I went back and I was better than when I stopped. While constant practice is definitely a good thing, sometimes a break is just what you need.
One thing I do, is find new bands and new styles of music online, it usually opens up my mind. Another thing you can do (might not be able to though) is play another instrument that you're decent at and just mess around. IMO guitar and bass are the two hardest instruments to write songs with.
