Breaking the Hobbit.
It should've beena slam dunk. Peter Jackson, mastermind of the "Lord of the Rings" franchise, was all set to reteam with studio partner NEW LINE on a film version of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Rings" prequel, "The Hobbit." Then a funny thing happened: New Line fired him. No one's using that word, natch, but in a letter posted on fan site theonering.net, Jackson claims that the studio told him it "would no longer be requiring our services on "The Hobbit." (New Line declined to comment; Jackson could not be reached.) Why the breakup? Fallout from Jackson's decision to audit New Line's accounting on "Rings." The audio wanted him to settle the matter before handing him "The Hobbit." He refused; that was that. It'll be tough to fill Jackson's shoes. For one thing, he doesn't wear any. -(Article by Devin Gordon)
Sooo... Hm. Any input?
Meh. Peter Jackson isn't the worlds greatest director. He just got a few lucky shots which hyped up his reputation. I'd rather see Kevin Smith do it.
"I wants it, I wants my snoogins!"
Eh, the past 3 movies were good, and King Kong was awesome. Gonna miss that dude. :(
That guy is really good. Why'd they fire him?
Maybe Peter Jackson could direct the Thomas Covenant Series. I don't remember who has the rights, but every fan of the series is sure it's set to fail if it ever gets made.
I'm just surprised they're willing to fire Jackson; I feel like Hollywood studios would be willing to toss the man a few million dollars in exchange for his name on the movie. He's a pretty well known director at this point...
