Title: Top Five Series
Description: Your favorite game series. Ever.
Lades - January 11, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
Well, after going through my games, I was surprised at the series I picked above others to play. So I figure, why not know everyones! So, here are mine:
1) Final Fantasy - Yes, yes, I know. FF, whoopie. But's a solid rpg, with awesome storylines, and always compels me where alot of other games fail.
2) Tales Series - This barely missed number one. I love the battle system, story, and the unique systems that the Tales games offer. Only that I've played four games to FF's fourteen made this get #2.
3) Fire Emblem - You're all here because of it, so you know. Great games, great stories, great systems, great chars. Great everything. And not forgiving either. Ehehehe.
4)DDR - %@#$ ya. It's fun. And healthy. And...takes all my quarters away at the arcade.
5)Zelda - Dude. It's Zelda. 'nuff said.
Arcan - January 11, 2007 03:24 AM (GMT)
Pfft. Console gamers, with their 'Zelda' this and their 'Tales' that :P
J/k, obviously, although my list is less console oriented.
1) Diablo
Sure, its a measly two games, but if it wasn't for this, I wouldn't be a gamer and, therefore, not here. If I think all of the hours I've pored into both installments in the series....
2) Warcraft
Yes, I'm obviously a Blizzard fan. Anyway, WC2 was to Diablo what..err...whatever passes for a great RTS is to whatever passes for a great RPG these days(there are too many examples of each, fill in what looks good). With the addition of WoW, which I cannot afford just yet but is on the top of my things to get list once I get a job, Warcraft is a great series.
3) Warlords
I don't know if anyone here has heard of it....but I've played through the one map, 8 unit DOS Warlords all the way through the most recent pieces, Warlords IV and Warlords Battlecry 3, both of which are among my favorite games (Trivia Tidbit-according to Firefoxes built in spell checker, 'Battlecry' is not a word. Hyphen, mayhaps?)
4) Final Fantasy
Sure, I started with the whole console spheal, but every true gamer has to appreciate Final Fantasy-its the finest story based game (mainstream, anyway) out there. It carries great gameplay and a story, what's not to love? *coughtnomultiplayercough*
Last, but not least....
5) Pokemon
It may not be my favorite at the moment, but its second only to Diablo in sheer gameplay hours sucked out of me. From blue, to yellow...and, my latest Ruby. Not to mention my emerald and fire red roms, that is. Especially in hte days of yellow, when it was 'cool', my friends and I could spend an entire weekend playing it, racking up over 16 hours per day for two days straight. That's what I call 'addictive'.
Alex - January 11, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
1, Counter Strike
I spend my whole weekend basically playing CSS now. What's more to say?
2. Fire Emblem
The FE series brought me to FE forums when I was a n00b. =D
3. Smash
It's so fun to play with others.
4. Madden
The series I used to play all of the time when I was younger. XD
5. Pokemon
Yeah, I can't think of anymore series. XD. I played Pokemon for the GBA so much when I was in elementary school. XD.

1. Mega Man X- I've beaten 1, 2 and 3 so many times, I can literally play through the levels in my head. I love em.
2. Zelda- It's Zelda
3. Sonic the Hedgehog- Sonic, he can really move, Sonic, he's got an attidtude, Sonic, he's the fastest thing alive!
4. Rayman- One of those few games that made the transition from 2D to 3D and did it well. I prefer 1, but 2 and 3 are fun.
5. Donkey Kong Country- Mainly cause it was the ONLY game my dad ever liked playing with me. Good memories.

I actually haven't played many games. I'll just list out, in no particular order, my top 5:
1) Fire Emblem
2) Harvest Moon
3) Paper Mario
4) ... Uhh...
... Okay, those are the only three series that I've played multiple games from. So sue me. :/
sirjohn4 - January 11, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
1)Smash -> agreed with Alex, entertainment for hours
2)Warcraft -> My dad and friends always have interesting tactics. Some times, I find it funny to see what they do, even if I do get beat...
3)Fire Emblem -> If I need to explain why, somebody is in the wrong forum...
4)Final Fantasy -> I espscially like Tatics and tatics advance, great story lines, but sometimes baddies just won't stay dead... (Seymour)
5)Xenosaga/Tales of series-> both are tied, I like massive story lines.
I like to play games where me and a few friends can compete or coop and there is fun to be had, but I also like to flex my brain in different shapes. You never know when you might lead a massive army of knights against a orc band.
Karn - January 12, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
Smash - Most dynamic/perfect system ever.
Risk - Hey you didn't say video games. Good strategy game. Axis and Allies is good but it doesn't have any diplomacy so it doesn't win out.
Mario - Best side-scroller
Zelda - Best puzzle-game.
Kingdom Hearts - Good storyline and a good RPG.
Kaden - January 12, 2007 12:33 AM (GMT)
Kingdom Hearts - Say it's kiddy, I don't care, it's awesome.
Halo - It's the basic shooter, but just like Heinz Ketchup... "To do an ordinary thing unordinarily well brings success." :P
FE - Well, what else could I say here?
Zelda - Basic, but eh.
Call me stupid, but...
Gundam games - Call me a nerd, but getting in a Guncannon and blasting away some Oz-ies is just too much fun.
sirjohn4 - January 12, 2007 01:29 AM (GMT)
Opps, my bad bump Warcraft and everything down and put KH as my second. :P
Juan - January 12, 2007 02:35 AM (GMT)
1. Zelda - I love Zelda games
2. Fire Emblem - Great game, it brought me here
3. Vandal Hearts - Older game but definately one of the best I have ever played
4. Sonic - I like the newer games, I am a Shadow fan
5. Smash - Fun game

I liked alot of the gundam games for the PS2, mainly the multiplayer ones.
Hiei - January 12, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
1. Mario. They never cease to make original Mario titles, so it wins by a land slide.
2. Fire Emblem. Great games, good original story lines, usually give a decent difficulty level too.
3. Halo. Greatest shooter series, loads of fun, great multilayer.
3. (Tie) Smash Bros. Best fighting series ever, very original, tons of fun, overall a great games.
5. Final Fantasy. It defined the RPG game. The series has gone downhill lately, and recent games are way over rated, but the early games were ingenious and way ahead of their times.
5. (Tie) Megaman. I must agree with ZeroKirbyX, the Megaman X series was incredibly amusing, and a great play overall. Although, once again, the series went downhill.
Madden sucks, once you have one game you have them all.
Zelda sucks as a series, it lacks originality. The games are fun, but the series itself isn't overly impressive; the main character doesn't even have a personality.
MMORPGs are one in the same.
Pokemon is a shitty RPG. Don't get me wrong, they're fun games, but they aren't anything special.

Didja know that they planned for X4 to be the final X game in the series? It was just such a money maker they kept it going up to 8, then that command mission shit. Although, if you liked the X series try out the Zero series. Not quite the same, a little bit less awesome, but still a fun Game Boy title.
Hiei - January 12, 2007 04:26 AM (GMT)
I've played the Zero series, it was fun, a good play, but definitely didn't have the same feel as the X series.
I Have a Sandwich - January 12, 2007 04:51 AM (GMT)
Indeed. It was a lot less simple, with a lot more plot. Still kinda fun.
Esgalglinion - January 12, 2007 07:07 AM (GMT)
For me:
1. Secret of Mana 2, or Seiken Densetsu 3
It was this game that really made me play for hours. Also, it was Hawk in that game that really got me interested in the Thief class in every RPG I've played.
2. Smash
The smash games has kept me entertained for hours. It was also thanks to that I started playing Fire emblem, due to Marth and Roy.
3. Fire Emblem and Advance Wars
Basically the same, although AW having more strategy implemented and FE being more RPG based.
4. Battlefield series
HAH! An original swedish developed game. It would've been higher up, but the other games took its place.
5. Neverwinter Nights
A DoD based RPG game for the computer. I still love the simple yet well-thought humor they have from time to time.
Valter - January 12, 2007 10:19 PM (GMT)
1. GTA games
2. Halo games
3. Final Fantasy games
4. Fire Emblem games
5. Soul Caliber games
Severian - January 17, 2007 01:08 AM (GMT)
(In no particular order)
1: Star Control Series
2: Fire Emblem
3: Suikoden
4: Castlevania (what I've played of it)
5: Metal Gear.
That makes Konami the maker of three of my favorite game series, so I suppose it's my favorite company. There are probably some series I'd prefer to some of these, but I'm just too lazy to think about them atm.
Dragon_Tam3r - January 17, 2007 07:20 AM (GMT)
1 Zelda - 'NUGH SAID F00
2 Harvest Moon - Something about taking my hoe out in a hot long day, and just working 'till night arouses me.
3 Mario Series - Rip offs galore, but some, like Mario Kart (YAYZORZ) don't suck....entirely
4 Sims - I love the sim, sue me, building a huge frat house, inviting over everyone my pixelized phone can call, swap the doors for 5 sets of walls, and let the place burn. Neva' gets old
5 Uh....Fire Emblem? Unreal / Unreal Tornament! - UNREALblight, eh, eh, DON'T YOU GET IT BY NOW? (Yes, yes I do still play Unreal Tornament 2004, and watch old Arena on G4TV just to see the Unreal Tornament 2004/2003 battles.)
