I watched a few episodes over the weekend, it's a pretty well done show. The main character, Light Yagami, finds a notebook called the "death note" which allows him to take the lives of anyone he chooses by writing their name on a page. I don't really want to elaborate more, because I don't want to spoil anything for people who're interested in watching it, reading the manga, etc.

It's probably influenced by Crime and Punishment...it's even more like The Outsider, by Richard Wright, but it's the latter work is not well known enough AFAIK to have made it to japan.

Seen it, read it, and watched about a half hour of the movie. 'Tis stupid.

I've heard a lot about it and once I finish watching Bleach I'll probably start watching it.

It is interesting, I give it that. I've watched the first episode. I just think it's a bit too dark for me though. I might watch more of it later.

I just...enjoy many different things. School Rumble is a favorite of mine too, although it's completely different.

I watched the first three episodes and I have to agree that it's fuckin' awsome. Ryuk is my favorite character so far. How can you not love a Death God!?

Ryuk's my favorite, too. The events in the most recent anime episode make me worry about how commonly he'll appear in the later eps, though :(

In the jump Ultimate Stars game for the DS, you can have light as a support character. His more 'powerful' version has him and ryuk appear on screen - then apples fall on all characters, and if they hit the person dies in 10 seconds.

Apparently its name translates to "A light and ryuk combo". I'm really eager to see if it appears in the show :)

In general, Death Note is able to make fun of itself on occasions, which is pretty cool (the dramatic 'potato chip scene' is an example).

Ah, yes, the potato chip scene. Kinda funny, he's laughing maniacally while eating potato chips. To himself anyways. And Ryuk's in the series from beginning to end. Don't worry, you can consider him the ender of all things.

I like Justin the Jewel Demon, just because his name sounds cool. <_<
