Title: Warcraft
Description: Pity me, for my soul is lost.
Lades - February 26, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
Well, I haven't been doing much online for the last few days, and I guess I'll tell you. After much goading from my friends, I purchased WoW. Not a bad game, although my schoolwork has suffered lately. Perhaps those dungeons with my friends at 3 AM are getting to me. *sigh* So, any thoughts, opinions, and all that crap about this game? I'm on Malfurion, with a few chars.
Severian - February 26, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
I dodged your situation by a hair's breath - I nearly purchased WoW with friend pressure, but I decided I didn't like RPG gameplay enough to spend money or time on one which is prolly mostly about gameplay.
I do play WCIII TFT still, if that counts. But only the ladder games and LOTR: Ring Wars.

*sigh*
I really hope you can recover from the plague. Remember, school is really more important than WoW. =/
Kipdog - February 27, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
How CAN it affect school? I maintained straight A's first semester and I play WoW. Im guessin you just got it, and your leveling your first character. Depending on how long you play, after getting your first 60 (or 70, in the case of Burning Crusade) you can really get sick of the game for more than 2-3 hours at one sitting. All I do nowadays is PvP on my 29 twink most of the time, my main is only lv 64.
And eww, your on Malfurion, thats a normal server. I think a PvP server offers a much more enriching experience of the game. Too bad your server isnt in my battlegroup.
What class did you make?
Alex - February 27, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
Your school is easy as hell. I slave over my grade (sort of :P) and can only get 3 A's and 4 B's mainly. =/

It could be course selection or a lower need to study. Some people just do better while working less.

Okay, WoW isn't affecting my school, my last semester as a senior is making me lazy. But WoW is a better excuse, no? And I made a druid - tauren. Just got him to level 20 in class.
I do have a character on a pvp server though. My friends and I are gonna play on either Shadowmoon (normal PVP) Or Twisted Nether (RP PVP). I started a backup druid on both, to be safe. After trying the classes, druid is more my style. I like being a jack of all trades.
What server you on kippy?

Actually, it is course selection. I decided I'd only take classes that interested my intellectual pursuits, such as psychology, Sociology, etc.
Currently I have Information Technology for two hours, MOUS Cert for an hour, Psych for an hour, Theater arts for an hour, and motiv psych for an hour. Info tech and MOUS cert dont give work to do at home, so Im going to get A's in those no problem. Psych, my teacher thinks homework is worthless and doesnt really give out much of it, other than to have other grades in the book other than tests. So since his class relies solely on test grades, A'd. Considering you can make up every answer for the book questions he assigns and you'll get them all right. Theater arts, well, you dont really get homework in that class. Motivational Psychologys course revolves around movie analysis, and, well, EVERY test we get is open note. Even our finals will be.
I dropped my math class that I was originally supposed to have because Im really freakin lazy, and took motiv psych instead. Having all these classes not only makes school much more stimulating and enjoyable, but its far easier for me to learn in as well.

What server you on kippy? |
I play on Deathwing myself. Most people consider the jack of all trades a shaman. As for druids, lots of people claim now with BC that they are currently the god class over all other classes PvP wise. (That used to be warlocks). Druids require alot of understanding to really play them right, and you'll learn alot about them as time goes on. I know every class in depth other than the exceptions of locks and shaman, mainly because I never touched any of those at all. My suggestion if you dont want to be stuck healing all the time is to go feral spec for your druid, it can be really enjoyable being able to do damage, tank, and have decent heals at the very least.
If you want to play on my server I more than welcome you, my characters are Kipdog (Lv 64 rogue), Lesione (Lv 29 Paladin, 29 twink. Im usually on this guy the most), and Tissues (Lv 16 Paladin, want a high level healer.)
Once you get your druid high enough level and start leveling someone else, the weaknesses of your class really become more obvious. :P Such as the fact that my rogue is pretty much 3 shotted by most classes, I noticed that its alot different on a paladin. They have better armor, the ability to heal, and they can avoid most movement impairing effects with blessing of freedom. Of course, paladins cant damage for shit unless you spec retribution, but I prefer holy-protection spec, seems to offer more utility.
Well, heres a few pointers that you should know as a druid I suppose.
-If your afflicted by any movement impairing affects, like frostbolt or hamstring, you can remove them merely by shapeshifting.
-If you see a shaman in ghost wolf, you can use your hibernate spell on them to effectively stop them. You can also use hibernate on hunter's pets or other druids in animal form.
-Entangling roots is amazing for getting melee classes off you, or supporting a flag carrier in Warsong Gulch. Keep in mind you can only have one entangling roots up on a target though. If you use it on someone else, the last person it was on will go away. Same applies with hibernate.
-Druids can effectively be the best flag holders in Warsong Gulch, if spec'd correctly. Its primarily due to the fact that when they shapeshift they can get rid of movement impairing effects, and if you spec in feral enough, you can get a 30% speed boost in outside areas while in cat form.
Thats all the advice I have to offer for now. All if it happens to be PvP oriented because, well, I PvP alot. So I know alot about PvP.

The only thing that sucks about having a druid to heal for the group is that they only get 1 rez every hour (half hour?) so the group usually needs another rezzer. I'm just about to get my hunter to 60 after not playing for a long time. I play on Kil' Jaeden and my hunter is almost 59 and I have a 22 Draenei Warrior.
Karn - March 1, 2007 02:00 AM (GMT)
I play WoW sometimes. I have a 29 warlock twink, also my main, and a druid level 20 that I started playing like a week ago. I think I like the druid more than the shaman so I might play him. I've never been addicted to WoW and I find it takes more willpower for me to play than it does to stop. I hate leveling, but PVP battlegrounds are really fun. I play on Detheroc by the way.

The nice thing about that rez is that it can be used in combat.

Woohoo, WoW!
I have one character, lvl45 Mage on Korgath.
I always hear people hating on classes for whatever reason, whining about who knows what.. I have no complaints. Mages friggin rock. We got hell options, and the ability to beat out any class in the game.
I twinked 39 for a while which was a blast.. Twinking for me got boring after a while though... Only so many times you can pull 27-0 kill:death and brag, you know?
Got to say though... one of the most interesting aspects of this game, for me, is the auction house. Can't get enough about how maluable it is, and how many options you have to make money from just basically watching it.
Evesgallion - March 1, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
44? 45? I unno... my current main is around there... he's an undead rogue that I've had for god knows how long... my alt is a hunter, druid, and a warlock (orc, tauren, undead) and my warlock is probably my richest character because it's herbs and tailor... Hunter is an enchanter and a skinner while rogue is leatherworker druid... I dun remember but I think I made him an alch...
My favorite class = rogue
Least favorites = druid/warlock... I keep mine cause they make good things with their proffesions...
Favorite race out of all = undead
Racials = human... but I'll never use em...
I haven got a chance to play in the new expansion... though I have it... what's to look forward too...
@bucket: What realm for WC3... I'll join you

That's it. We all need a FEW server. Hmph. ^_^
Kippy: I like my druid, and I spec balance though. I want to be able to be a moonkin, and I'd learned half of the stuff you'd said already. The other half was very helpful though Kippy (That'll teach my friend to try and use a pet on me. Or...it did long enough for me to go cat and slice him up. Hehe). I'm going to try a priest after this, as well as a paladin when I get BC. And I'm learning about PVP from warsong gulch, as well as some raid defense I get dragged along with simply for roots and fairie fire. Hehe. But I may play on Deathwing... ;)
Entertainer: And yes, mages rock. Portals alone make them rock, but everything else kicks so much ass too.
Eves: in BC, you basically get the two new races, outlands, and I haven't seen much differnce over my buddy's shoulder in class. (We woulda gotten yelled at...if the teacher wasn't playing his warrior.)

Another person I know gets sucked into the tornado called Warcraft.
WoW ruins your life almost as much as drugs, from what I've seen about it.
Lades - March 1, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
Fear not Valter. I'll remain sane.
:ihavepie:
Karn - March 1, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
My friend was level 66, then he paid some company to power level him to 69. The guy playing his character was laundering gold and stuff, and he got banned. Hehehe.
