III. Arena Rules
A. The Three Arenas
1. There are three Arenas, officially named as the Standard Arena (a.k.a. Arena #1), House of Mirrors (a.k.a. Arena #2), and the Battlefield (a.k.a. Arena #3).
B. Standard Arena
1. The standard arena is only for battles between players.
2. To begin a battle, you must first have the consent of the character you’re sparring
with, usually by PM, and then agree on who will post the topic. Afterwards both participants should post which weapon they’re using.
3. Usually a judge will notice the topic and judge the battle, but if not one of the participants should ask a judge to do so.
4. At the start of the match, both players may decide on an amount of Gold to wager. Whoever wins the match gains that amount of Gold, and whoever loses the match loses that amount of Gold.
5. Whoever wins also wins EXP as determined by a formula. The formula is [(Loser's Level –Winner’s Level) * 3] + 40. Negative numbers are perfectly acceptable for the first time, but if the overall EXP is negative, it automatically resets to 0 EXP.
6. Nobody is allowed to have more than
6 battles in 1 Topic. This is to prevent people from bulking up tons of battles, posting them all in 1 topic, and judges being forced to judge all of them before moving on. Also, nobody is allowed to post consecutive topics. Basically, that way they don't post 5 topics in a row with 6 battles each in them.
Example:
A Level 2 character defeats a Level 8 character.
[(8 – 2) * 3] + 40 => (6 * 3) + 40 =>18 + 40 => 58.
The Level 2 Character receives 58 EXP.
Example:
A Level 7 character defeats a Level 4 character.
[(4 – 7) * 3] + 40 => (-3 * 3) + 40 => (-9) + 40 => 31.
The Level 7 character receives 31 EXP.
6. A judge may not judge a battle he is participating in unless someone else provides the random numbers. Failure to do so will result in an immediate Verbal Warning, a second offense will result in a 17% Warnig Level, an third will result in a 50% Warning Level and a one week suspension from the RPG, and the fourth will result in a 100% Warning and an indefinite suspension and/or banning. It’s really not that difficult to ask someone to give you some numbers, so please comply.
C. House of Mirrors
1. The House of Mirrors is exclusively for battles between players and their NPC doubles.
2. Each character may battle his or her NPC counterpart once each week. A week in terms of this is counted as Sunday-Saturday.
3. Each character’s NPC counterpart has the exact same stats and uses the exact same weapon as the character it’s battling.
4. EXP gain for winning a battle is calculated with the normal formulas, but since doubles have the exact same stats, including the exact same level, 40 EXP is always gained for winning a battle.
5. To begin a battle, post a topic and specify which character is battling and which weapon that character is using. Eventually a judge will see it and judge it. As usual, it’s always permitted to ask a judge to judge your battle.
D. The Battlefield
1. The Battlefield is a place to have a casual Row Battle. Similar to a War, but with much lower stakes.
2. Both sides must designate a Tactician.
3. Other, more specific rules in the "Battlefield Rules" topic in the Battlefield forum.
E. The Sparring Arena
1. The Sparring Arena is where people post topics with characters that spar regularly. This is literally the only exception to the New Judging Rule that says that everybody has to judge their first unjudged battle in the forum. Simply because all of the judging goes on daily, and in the same topic.
2. Each battle judged is worth 25G to the judge that judges it.
3. Nobody is allowed to be sparring with more than
6 characters at any given time. If you are currently sparring with 6 characters and somebody else wants to spar with your character, you have to either reject their offer or stop sparring with one of the six that you're already sparring with.
F. Tournaments
1. Tournaments are occasionally held by different people. The rules for each tournament may vary among who is hosting it.
2. To host a tournament, one must receive the permission of a forum admin.
3. The host of a tournament may not participate in his or her own tournament unless he or she has another judge take care of all battles the host participates in.
4. Regular judges are not allowed to judge in tournaments. Only War Judges and Arbiters are.
G. Judge Tryout
1. To apply for the position of a judge, one must be moderately active.
2. To begin, make a topic in the Judge Tryouts forum. When you get 3 signatures from 3 different already existing judges, war judges, arbitors, administrators, or country leaders, you have to wait in a small line. Post your signature topic right
here.
3. When it's your turn in line, Pondy will assign you one battle in the Standard Arena that you have to judge. If you judge it correctly, then your judging will count as your first officially judged battle, and your name will be added to the
Official Judge List. Congratulations! You are officially a Fire Emblem Wars Judge!
4. See
this topic for the new prize for judging. It provides a much more balanced system, and we won't be seeing anymore topics screaming at judges for not judging peoples' battles.
Becoming a War Judge: A Step Up
To become a war judge, PM Pondy telling him so. He will PM you back with a War Judge Test. If you pass it, you'll become a war judge, which basically means that you're allowed to judge Wars and Tournaments, something that you're not allowed to do as a normal judge.
Becoming An Arbiter and "Hell Week"
Ah, an Arbiter. That's what we all want to be, right? Have that fancy little star next to our name, be able to judge everything and anything, and have double the rewards for doing so?
Well, all of that glory comes at a price. If you are a war judge looking to become an Arbiter, PM Pondy again(you're becoming good friends with him, aren't you? :P) and let him know that you're ready for the Arbiter Test("Hell Week"). This test is exactly as follows: Starting the instant you get your PM back from Pondy letting you know that you can begin, you are to judge as many battles as you possibly can over the course of one week. Don't judge them just to say that you judged 100+ battles in a week; judge them to prove that you're willing to judge battles. PM Pondy back with the number of battles that you judged in the allotted time, and he will PM you back with the result; Are you now an arbitor, or do you need to try again?
See, the down side(kind of?) to being an Arbiter is that if you have to judge at least 35 battles a week. Don't get too stressed; it's only 5 battles a day. But, if an Arbiter goes a week without judging his or her 35 battles, they will lose their Arbiter status and be demoted back down to a War Judge.
Another perk to being an Arbiter is that you and your fellow Arbiters get your own personal forum to do basically what ever you want to, staying within the Board Rules.
H. Shops
1. To purchase an item from a shop, just post in the topic for that shop, subtract the Gold from your total Gold, and add the item to your Inventory.
2. Initially only the “E”xcellent for Beginners shop is accessibly, but by purchasing and upgrading a Shop Card one can gain access to higher-level shops. A Shop Card cannot be sold or traded, and only the character who bought it may use it. Multiple characters must have multiple Shop Cards.
