Title: Elibe Map

I've just noticed this, so forgive me for the lateness of this all.

Click

Let's take a look at this map, shall we? The Western Isles territory can attack... 3 NPC territories around it. Etruria has 5 NPC territories which it can invade, due to shared borders. Ilia has 3, Sacae has 4, Bern has 4, Valor has 3, and Nabata has four.

Lycia has 2.

I know this is bias, due to me being the leader of Lycia and all but... come on, now. At least make this fair. Certain countries shouldn't have advantages like this right off the bat. :/

It means that you can only get attacked from two territories as well. But I agree, it's a bit biased. T_T

Funny... I just noticed that...

Shit happens

EDIT- Valor Has four I believe.

True, true. Valor has four.

Is it a coincidence that both female leaders have the least amount of accessible territories? Sexism~! :o

... I know it isn't, calm down. :/

That's just how it worked out. I set it up so that nobody would be able to attack another leader's territory as their first territory, and they would have to get an NPC territory before somebody else's to kind of...hold back a little early tension. Sorry it didn't work out in your favor. :\

I'd rather have minimal ways of getting attacked, rather then Etruria, where even if it's just taking the territories around it, look like it's trying to invade someone.

Valor's like that aswell, in order for us to expand, we have to take someone else's territory, and effectively invade just to grow.

Like brigandine, an obscure PS1 game, which I cite as my bible in map-stuff, the main thing that matters is not the number of places you can be attacked from, but the number of territories you have which can be attacked.

In Brigandine, caerleon, a small nation, can only attack 2 (or maybe 3) countries at the start. However, because it only has a single territory open to attack, it's easily able to take over another small, and slightly more vulnerable (in terms of terrain), nation with ease (assuming it's able to defeat its knights, who are quite powerful).

In this, Lycia is IDEAL! If you take, for instance, the two territories directly next to lycia, you only have to defend 2, because Lycia will be "walled in," and thus only have to leave members of your country in two territories. Valor, my nation, has to take over 4 other territories to wall in its main territory. Believe me, we are in a much more difficult situation in terms of being able to take over other countries.

The main question in stuff like this, where there are limits on numbers of characters, is how you split your forces to maximize defensive capabilities over a range of territories.

I realize that this gifts people with realizations of tactical shit, but I'm in favor of giving that knowledge out so we don't fuck around with the borders. Sara, Lycia has the definite advantage in this layout, at least for the early term.

The thing here, Severian, is that in FEW (to my knowledge), you don't have to leave certain members in the territories. If one gets attacked, any of them can move to defend it. Although, I do see your point if multiple invasions were held on the country, each in different territories.

Mehhh. :/

Mehhh indeed. It's more of a late-game thing now, I'm thinking.

Take another thing into mind, too. It doesn't matter how many territories we can start taking. We will probably only take 1 or 2 territories at a maximum each time. If it's such a big problem, take another territory, tehn expand into the three border territories you can take from there.
