The old topic has been trashed and this one has been made to help keep focus. Have fun. :o

Anyway, it ends up my brother isn't getting it at midtnight. So I won't get to read it until like, Sunday night. :"( (He finished the last two books the day we got them. <_<)

Man that's a real tragedy, not getting it till sunday :(

Why ain't he going if he was that obsessed over the others?

Kaden - July 18, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
He wasn't. xD He ususally has nothing to do over the weekends... especially in summer, and he reads really fast. X_X Plus, neither of us feel like going at midnight. lol

Valter - July 18, 2007 06:25 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna get it in the morning. No need to wait until midnight to grab it, I say.

good luck. I really couldn't say how good of a chance you'll have. it probably depends on your area. I know for sure that mine's large enough that I won't have a great chance of getting ahold of it unless I go that night....so I am. Too bad I won't get to read very much because I work 7 am the next morning....I expect that to suck A LOT...

I wish I had time to reread the last book or two, but I really don't. If someone cared to recap the 6th for me, I'd appreciate it, but no problem if you don't want to

My sister's getting the book that night. We reserved a copy back in December when they opened the reservations at Borders, so we should definitely get one that night. I'll probably be done by that morning, when my sister leaves for Virginia Beach.

I've heard that the harry potter 7 book got leaked and is currently bootlegged on the low. =X

Kaden - July 19, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
Yes, we also just banned a veteran because he refused to stop posting spoilers, even after mods and admins told him not to over and over again.

KuraiKitsune - July 21, 2007 07:26 AM (GMT)
From what I've heard, Gaia might be in legal trouble for some idiot that ran around, posting rampant spoilers. o.o

Hiyami - July 21, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
For real? I never even heard about it. >_< I hope they claim that it was the user's fault rather than Gaia's.

I've got too many long distance connections there to enjoy the utter destruction of Gaia. T_T

I HATE how it ends. Stupid Potter.

Kaden - July 21, 2007 10:04 PM (GMT)
My brother was on 400 when he started reading 4 hours ago, and he's been reading non stop. So it should be mine soon. :D

Really? Pity, cause I particularly like the ending. The last two chapters were pwnage. I was at the release party at Borders(this morning)... it was awesome, I started reading as soon as I got on line to check the book out, and I had a $25 gift card on me, so I didn't even have to pay anything.

LoZfan03 - July 22, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
I just want to take this small break from reading to tell you that at least some of the 'leaks' are full of crap. the only one out of a bunch I accidently galnded that I remember was "Wormtail dies on page 15"....he doesn't, so they're wrong

...not the one I read, it wasn't. and even if I'm mixing something up, noone died on that page.

Valter - July 22, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
So many people died, geez...... I thought she would kill off mabye, um, 5? but its really more like 10. The ending turned out exactly the way I thought it would with the main three.

KuraiKitsune - July 22, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Heeheehee. I loved this book to death. >D

Kaden - July 23, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
I just finished it. Great book, loved the ending... the epilogue was kinda hard to picture though. <_< The last 150 pages kicked total ass.

ZeroKirbyX - July 23, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
I havent read 6 yet, so I cant read this til I do and 6 is at home :(

Valter - July 24, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)

It was uber anti-climatic. T_T It made me sad, because it was rather... Well, dreary. I would hope that since it's the last book it'd go out with a bang or something, but no! It just HAD to be all "Oh, yeah, you mean the dude we used to call the Dark Lord- he just got murdered by a spell, ya know."

Grargh! And then there's the epilogue. I mean, I'm sure most people loved that, but it just plain pissed me off. Of course, this could be cause I'm a Draco/Harry fan, but gah. I just wish.

But mehs, she's done well. ^_^

Kaden - July 24, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
Eh, personally, I thought the epilogue was too short. She could've done a lot more with it.

And the ending? I thought it was pretty exciting. >_>

Trace Stratus - July 26, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
I've had it since it came out but I plan to reread 1-6 as both a refresher and a tension builder. :P

ditto on that, but with a twist

Rowling said she isn't going to make any more Harry Potter books. the way I see it, the epilogue is a set-up to a nice big loophole ;) I can dream anyway...

Kaden - July 27, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
When she said that she wasn't planning on any more harry potter books, I still thought she may like, maybe make a book about the first time voldemort had power or something. Then I reread it and realized she said she's "had her fair share of the wizarding world and she's getting tired of it." :(

And about loopholes in the epilogue... some spoilers, but I'mma make them small, so you can't just read them on accident...

QUOTE (SPOLERS FOO!)
SPOILERS BELOW, Don't read if you haven't finished the book...

In the epilogue, you notice it says his scar hasn't hurt for like, 19 years. However, the part of Voldemort that was in Harry was destroyed when he "killed" Harry. Soooooo, he could still come back... somehow...

ZeroKirbyX - July 27, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
Snape kills Dumbledore page 606!

Wait...

I agree... reading takes up the majority of my free time... although the final book of the eragon series is coming out soon...

I find Kaden's spoiler (how do you get text that small?) doubtful, but heroism does run in the family, so I would be surprised if he finds his own problem...

Durendal - July 27, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
If anyone reading this topic hasn't read the book I am not responsible for any spoilers, because if you read the topic title, its a harry potter 7 discussion. If you haven't read the book you have nothing to discuss.

Personally I enjoyed reading this book, the only complaint I have about the whole thing is why the HELL would you kill off Fred Weasley and noty George? What is the point of George with no Fred? Stupid Rowling, thinks shes so rich and powerful these days, I liked her better as a hobo with an idea.

sirjohn4 - July 27, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
kinda the "no body safe from war" idea. but I aggree I wasn't fond of him dieing... or even georges ear for that matter...

SPOILER ALERT.

I wish she hadn't killed off my absolute favorite character in Lupin, but sometimes it's just necessary. BUT NOT HERE. In an earlier version, I've been told, Tonks and Lupin survived, and Mr. Weasley died in their stead. I'd much have preferred that. <_<

DAMN YOU DOLOHOV!

I was really mad when Lupin and Tonks bit the dust

Reydemagival20635 - August 4, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
I think I was madder when Tonks died than when Lupin did. I mean, Lupin was always talking about dying, and he was always kinda sad that Sirius and James "ditched" him, to some extent. But Tonks? That's just so sad. I mean, she was fun and hyper and entertaining and so full of life... but then, pow. Dead.

sara13987 - August 4, 2007 11:43 PM (GMT)
Guy, seriously... I didn't even realize Tonks and Lupin died until, like, either someone talked about it or the whole ghosts thing. I thought they were just staring at the stars together.

One thing I really want to know was what was with the baby in the cloudy-roomy-thing with Dumbledore. Or however it's spelt.

Reydemagival20635 - August 5, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
I think that's supposed to be the dying piece of Voldemort's soul that lay in Harry. I think with Harry's death, it followed him to limbo and was unable to move on from there because it was incomplete. That it takes the form of a baby may be attributable to the fact that Voldemort was attempting to kill a baby, Harry, when that piece of his soul split.

The movie version of the Battle of Hogwarts better be as epic as I imagined it to be.

Considering what they did to Sirius' death, don't expect it to be. You might get 5 minutes of battle watching. :( But they won't be able to cut anything out of this book. THey could cut the wedding, but why are the Big 3 on the run in wedding clothes? They'd have to almost rewrite the book for a movie... <_<

LoZfan03 - August 6, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
I kinda hope they do it in 2 parts. that way they could take their time

That could work quite well.

Karn - August 12, 2007 01:54 AM (GMT)
I enjoyed the book. The ending was obvious since the beginning of the book series as a whole. Obviously Harry is going to triumph over Voldemort in some kind of epic battle. The epilogue, however, was totally lame and unnecesary.

Overall, I thought the whole Harry Potter series was well-written and worth reading, both for enjoyment and for literary merit.

Valter, read A Game of Thrones. Even though it has a very different setting, the suspense and absorption the books cause is very similar to that of Harry Potter. Plus, the series has like three books left.
