Title: What do you find funny?
Mixtil - October 16, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
I'm just interested. Different people find different things humorous, and it's a gully thing. For example, I hate The Office (UK version).
What about yous?
Edit: Actually, in retrospective, this might not be the right forum for this, as this isn't a funny 'thing', per se.

Inside Jokes>Jokes that everybody understands.
I love saying a joke to a friend and have somebody else stare at us, while we're cracking up, like we're insane.

I like inside jokes when I don't understand them. Ok not for reals...ya inside jokes do kick ass but I feel bad when I'm talking with 2 friends who I went on a wilderness trip with about it and then other friends are standing aroud like "ok wtf is he on about?"
I like jokes which are cynical, at other peoples expense, and cross the line between funny and depressing. I find Dr Strangelove to be even better than Marx Bros or online memes. A Modest Proposal is wonderful. Steven Erikson's soldier-talk in the malazan series, which tends to be funny through being bleak and pessimistic, really gets me in the gut good.
Funny thing about Strangelove, which some of you may have seen, is that there's another amazing movie called Failsafe which is strangelove except serious.
EDIT-I don't have a truly great opinion of Monty Python. Which probably proves I'm a wicked heathen to some people. But it ranges on the utterly random stuff too much (or I'm too dumb to get why some of it isn't random).

You see, what you say there about Monty Python is funny (well, funny to me). The thing is, it's no-where near being a universal show/comedy troupe, due to it's very nature. Americans (or indeed anyone from anywhere save east of Offa's Dyke & south of the Humber) may claim to like it, but they are in reality laughing at it, not with it in a sense. It plays on something very specific about the middle English (in more ways than one) temprement. So, fair do's to you.
Myself, I find insults funny, among other things. For example, referring to someone as a

I know a kid who I watched flying circus with. There were parts I laughed at even if overall I was meh about it. But he didn't laugh at all.
It's true, many american python fans are often phonies. Just like many american camus fans are phonies and probably other stuff too I'm too lazy to think of right now.
American FE fans phonies? Naaaaaah enough of us have beaten FE5, FE9 maniac, and so forth using imports and the like that we can say we're HC about it.
