That would either be so awesome or unbelievably lame.
Congrats Puff!
Oh, how does the American system work at this point? I mean, I'm in Sixth Form, which is a parallel to a college, and I'm 16. Can someone explain it?

That depends when you started school, my man. I'm 17, and I'm in college. Usually, the typical American student doesn't start college 'till 18. See, there's 12 grades in the American system (13 if you count Kindergarten).
Elementary School (Grade School, Grammar School in some places) stretches from K-5 or K-6, depending on the district(I went to a K-5, but my sister went to a K-6). Then there's Middle School (Intermediate School, Junior High School), which is either 6-8 or 7-8, depending on whether you came from a K-5 or K-6. And High School (Secondary School) generally goes from 9-12, although there are exceptions, such as private schools that go K-12, magnet schools that go 7-12, that kind of shit.
That's about the basic rundown of the American school system, though it varies from state to state, district to district, and so on and so forth. Could also be that the English system of schooling is more accelerated than the American one, as European ones tend to be.
BTW: Mixty, your playlist rawks. QOTSA makes up much of that rawkage, + GiTS... more rawkage!

In the American system, do you start Kindergarten at 3?
And what's the difference between a college and a university in America? I mean generally.
On the music front, I spent £60 on importing all 7 albums of GiTS music from Japan. SO worth it. The two QOTSA tracks I wanted there aren't on the net, though.
Reydemagival20635 - October 24, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
No, you start kindergarten at 5... And the general difference between Universities and Colleges is, a College generally only offers Undergraduate degrees, where as Universities offer both Graduate and Undergraduate...
EDIT: And those two QOTSA songs would be? (Trust me, I've heard 'em all...)

I see, so a college is at the same level as a university. Here, it's college for 2 years (so, for me sept. '07-aug. '09), then university for however long. On a side note, college is not compulsory, though the majority of school leavers attend.
And those two three songs would be Born to Hula, The Bronze and Spiders & Vinegaroons.
Reydemagival20635 - October 24, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Ah, yeah, some pretty hard songs to find. Of those 3 I prefer The Bronze... Born to Hula's fun too... can't say I like Spiders & Vinegaroons much though.
Trace Stratus - October 25, 2007 12:33 AM (GMT)
Congratz Puff, welcome to the club. :P
I know its the generic favorite but I love "No One Knows" by QotSA.
Mixtil - October 25, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)
Josh Homme said The Bronze was the best song he'd ever written, and I might agree.
@ Trace: It's a generic favourite, but an excellent one.

Hmm, for the sake of spam blockage, I request we begin a different topic for Queens of the Stone Age. It makes a great topic of conversation...
Puff - October 26, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
I'll be 17 when I graduate high school; but 18 when I enter college.
Guys, I also got accepted to Marietta!
By the way, Puffy might also be joining FEW's work force.

Make sure not to work at McDonalds or such. They go out of their way to break laws just to rip you off. << I got fired from my last job for "conflicting scheduals" but I'm about to join Wal-Mart where the managers are bitches but the benefits, work hours, and pay check is totally worth it.

Dang it. That's where I was thinking too: McD's, BK, Arby's, etc. That or Petsmart.
YOU will probably get good pay at Wal*Mart because you're male - them being sexist and all. (I personally don't like Wal*Mart.)
nightwalker - October 28, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
Congrats! I used to live in Ohio and it is a pretty good place, hope you have fun.

Arby's should be fine but stray away from McDonalds. Burger King depends but I wouldn't risk it. Petsmart is always a good choice I think.
All the managers at the Wal-Mart I'm applying to are female so I don't think sexism is a problem; just that half of them have horrible and wicked personalities that make you want to go berserk with a shotgun in public. :/
