Title: Final Fantasy Tactics
Description: War of Lions

I got FFT for the PSP. Its an addictive but honestly its insanely aggravating. >< I haven't played FFT for the PS1 so I don't know if their exactly the same but here is what I have experienced:
Throught the beginning of the game you have two guest characters and only four of your own and the guest to the most retarded things. Then, if a character dies, you have three rounds to ressurect him or he perminently dies. ALL spells have a percent rate of failure, even Raise, Protect, ect and even Firaga can be blocked with a shield (WTF).
To be able to use items you have to gain levels in a Chemist class so only a select few would even be able to use a Phionix Down. Most battles its eight against six with all the enemies being at least 2-4 levels above you including the boss who usually has extremely gay moves such as ranged attacks that also heal him. Most characters move 3 square unless you equip them with items for a boost. Spells take time to cast and the AI knows when and where the spell will hit and most of the time they will step into the range of your Cura to heal themselves as well. I hate the Faith and Bravery mechanic because the you have to buy and train level 1 characters iwht higher faith than your level 14 caster.
After two days of straight playing I can honestly say this is the most aggravating tactics game I have ever played. I am still going to beat it but I doubt I'd play it again like I do with all my other tactic games. The only good things I can say is that the music and sound is great, the cut scenes are astounding, the graphics are awsome, but the gameplay is horendous. I feel like strangling children after playing some of the battles. I like the leveling mechanics, classes, and such but once you get on the battlefield its pure one-sided hell sometimes with you struggling to win as enemies are using abilities way above your own, rending your precious equipment, and succeeding at spells more often than you. -.-

There's a lotttt about FFT that you need to learn to be able to fully understand it. Once you know exactly how it works, it's basically the most amazing game there is. That's how it was with me. I must have played through the PSX version 10 times.

I believe the FFT for the PSP is basically the one for the playstation. I felt that the final fantasy tactic games were pretty enjoyable, I didnt think either were too aggravating though. I havent played either in a long time, and I dont have a PSP.

I've looked at it, but with no JP glitch or Knightsword glitch for me to exploit anymore, I'm hesitant.
It really is good game once you master it. And I think you get the Dark Knight as a selectable class on PSP as well. Just create a well rounded team and level like hell on random battles. And get Balthier. The only thing that will be an irritant is that when you get a good party of 6, the 'Special' classed warriors join the party at hire levels and with better skills.
Pfft. I'll be using my level 23 Thief/Ninja today, not you ORLANDU! NO! SIT! BAD GOD!

yeah, I restarted so I'm having a much easier time now. I bought soliders with higher faith and bravery then they first offered and used them. Now I'm level 20 and am mostly finishing each match without a single KO.

When does it come out for the DS, or is it already out?

you're thinking of FFTA2. that's been out in Japan since October, I believe, but no projected release date anywhere else yet.
they're talking about the PSP remake/port of the original Tactics for PS1(?)

I played the PS1 game and from your description it sounds the same. Once you get the hang of it is an awesome game. It is one of my favorite personal games (Since I love strategy games). The weight of the battle against you makes the game more fun. Btw, when you run into Zalbag; let the archaic demons hit your main character with ultima so you can learn it.

I remember having a lot of problems with Dorter Trade City, the battle at the fort where teta is taken (end of c 1), finath river (choco meteor is like, on par w/ sword skills w/ its fairly high damage, 100% hit, range, no MP or CT). Once you get Agrais the game becomes too easy, TG Cid could probably clear it on his own.
There's a duel near the end of chapter 2 which is pretty tough, but you can either toss on some equipment to void the enemy's worst attacks or use yell and survive until you have 2 or 3 turns for every turn the enemy has (or you can use it until you have 6+ to his one, and accumulate until you're doing 300+ damage).
Ultima is meh but I suppose you may as well go for it. Though it's prolly worth mentioning that it's only the ultima (blue) demons that use it, not the archaic (red) demons. You can also get it in the battle against elmdor inside of Limberry Castle - slay his "human" allies on the map and they will turn into demons. And Ramza might have to be a squire to learn it (and he should be able to use it on other squires to teach it to them).
Oh, and apparently you can't steal the equipment from Elmdor in this ver which is too bad (since he has the genji equipment).
EDIT-Oh, and that FUCKING FIRST BATTLE WITH ELMDOR on the roof of Riovanes. What a cheap bastard, you have to protect a (useless) ally who soon joins you, and the enemies sometimes OHKO her before you can even start fighting with them.

Ooooh. That kinda sucks, I loved FFTA to the point of masturbation and I might have to kill someone if they don't port it to USA.

Ewww eww eww I can't stand FFTA. Ewww. But there's already a project to patch the game, so I think that if you have a supercard you might be able to port it onto your DS along with a patch and play it. (emu=legal if you own the cartridge).
FFTA2 English Patch WikiAlso some random dude on gamefaqs claims:
