Title: hey hey, Pheonix Wright JFA?

LoZfan03 - January 12, 2008 03:35 AM (GMT)
ok so, odd happenings happening, but bottom line is: I'm getting Pheonix Wright: Justice for All for my birthday next week, but I haven't played or read anything of the first. I know there at least used to be some fans around here, so could anyone tell me if I'll be missing anything from the first besides the experience?

Ya. Most of it is character backstory, like how did mia die and the history between phoenix and edgeworth. This you don't really need to find out to play the game though, but you'll probabyl be left wondering.

There are some things that tie back to cases in the first and second game, but IMO the game explains things enough that you can understand what's going on w/out too much trouble.

Also,
this guy is awesome. he's the main prosecutor you face in the game.

EDIT
D'OH! I got Justice for All Mixed up with Trials and Tribulations.

Justice for All is even less of a problem since none of the cases are heavily based off of stuff from the first game. There are a few reccuring minor characters who you won't know much about, mostly in the 4th case, but they're present to act as witnesses, not to play a major part in the story.

And the prosecutor in JFA is Mei Von Karma, who whips you, and the witness, and the judge, and her detective aide, etc. I think she manages to refrain from whipping Pearl, who's around 8-10 years old, that's about it.

I love the hell out of all these games. I've already got numero 4 reserved. But to the point, no I suppose playing the first one isn't completely nessecery to understand the rest of the games, but you're missing out on one awesome bonus case. ;)

Ya, normally I tend to dislike stuff that gets added on like that, but Case 5 in PW1 was awesome.

LOZ you should find PW1 and play it if you can, but I say trying #2 first isn't a bad idea.

if I like 2, I'll probably get 1. I'm lacking games to want before Brawl

*Shakes head* Phoenix Wright belongs in Brawl.

I'm still crossing my fingers for him to at least be an assist trophy. I mean Olimar and Snake made it in why not someone that's actually cool? B)

Nuu I like snake, and olimar seems like a cool dude though I ain't played pikmin. I'm just pissed they took out the original badass Mr Game and Watch.

But watching Phoenix knock someone out with an "objection" fingerthrust would be pretty cool.

not bad so far. I'm in the midst of the second case. the whole whip-in-the-courtroom thing is a little O_o, but other than that it's fun. if I see the others around, I'll probably pick them up

If you ask me JFA is the weakest entry in the series though still plenty of fun. Not sure which I like more between 3rd and 1st...would probably go with 1st even though I like the fifth case in the third game the most.

that's exciting to hear :)

I would actually agree with that. Godot is just filled with so much awesome you feel like the game's gonna burst but the first one is still holds a special place in my heart. If only because of how much Gant seems to enjoy swimming.

I remember the first time I saw that I was playing in line at a restaraunt. Needless to say my WTF?!?! Was not well recieved by my local Olive Garden, and then my trying to explain myself didn't go to well either.
"But look! They made the little girl turn into a dead whore!"

Needless to say I'm not very welcome at that Olive Garden. :(

Final Turnabout Music Stuff

A site with various PW OSTs...and more importantly, the songs from the "Gyakuten Meets Orchestra" and "Gyakuten Meets Jazz Soul" CDs. Both are awesome!

I got the third game now. I already like Godot and his coffee much more than Fransica, and I'm only in the middle of the second case (first with him in). also, if my first purchase on half.com goes well (and with my luck, it may not), I'll have the first game sometime this week. I'm terribly glad I picked up JFA now ^_^
