Has anybody else noticed that these two shows seem to make a lot of references to each other?

It is my opinion that Fresh Prince and Family Matter was originally a single concept. Unfortunately, for legal and ethical reasons, they could not cast Will Smith and Jaleel White in the same show.
that out of the way, I can't say that I've ever noticed, but I only watch either when I'm really bored some night and Nickelodeon happens to be on and I'm feeling too lazy to change it...

Not sure. I still watch Fresh Prince for kicks but I only watched family matters, along with full house, as a little tyke. So I don't really remember it that well...

I still watch Fresh Prince on Superstation every weekday at 8 am. Never really noticed the connection though.

I watch both every night. In the short time Family Matters has been a part of Nick at Nite, I've heard Carl compared to Phil, and I think Carlton compared to Urkle. I also even looked it up and saw that there were even more references than that. Jaleel White was even in an episode of Fresh Prince once.
