Title: Exams!
Description: Grondy's Column

A merry Sunday to all of you fellas. Nice day out, isn’t it? I feel like just lying down in the grass and sleeping for fifty years. Rip Van Grondring, they’d call me, and name Millennium members after me (AT’s the only person who’s going to understand that).
Well, today’s article sucks. Initially I had planned to be nice and present the prologues of both A Cruel Angel’s Thesis and Fire and Ice plus the first chapter of Primed and Ready (which doesn’t have a prologue anyway), but then exams started. Exams tied me up in a chair and beat me upside the head with a pair of rusty bagpipes. Right now I’m huddled up in my basement, tapping away at a computer. Exams beat at the locked door. Soon they will break through and drag me off to the eternal, monotonous torture of studying.
But hey, I’m not going to let a little thing like the grades that’ll determine my future stop this article! Today we have an exam that’s actually fun! Here’s Grondy’s Quiz of Random Stuff That He Thought of, also known as the GQORSTHTO. You might want to call it Grondy’s Quiz, though, or just GQ.
The quiz is worth 30 points. Each question is worth 2. Get your answers to me whichever way you like. Enjoy and be astounded at the tidbits I have in my brain.
1. Semper Vigilans. What does this Latin phrase mean?
2. In the Divine Comedy by Dante, his muse is allegedly this ancient poet, who wrote The Aeneid.
3. The movie Gladiator is based off actual Roman history. Marcus Aurelius, along with Trajan and Hadrian, were members of a series of five consecutive emperors that historians call what?
4. Name three countries where FEW members live. You can’t use the US.
5. What was the largest number of Popes the Catholic Church ever had at one time?
6. This man led Germany through WWI.
... and now for some questions you’re more likely to know the answers to. Or maybe not. Whatever. Just try, okay?
7. Name a full-blooded dragon from any Fire Emblem game.
8. There are quite a few Fire Emblem “cousins” – that is, characters from different games who are extremely similar. A well known group of cousins is the Jeigans, of which Marcus and Jeigan are members. Name the group Athos is part of. (Hint: the name comes from a character in FE4.)
9. What was one of Sauron’s alternate names, back when he was still just a servant of Morgoth?
10. How old was Edward Elric when he became a State Alchemist?
11. Name the main pantheon of Norse gods, which includes Thor and Odin.
12. This mythical weapon was said to have pierced the side of Christ while he was on the cross at Golgotha.
13. Name three of the “ultimate morphs” created by Nergal-that is, the ones you battle during Light.
14. The great Pirate King. This entity is the sole reason Haruko is on Earth. He is absorbed by Naota at the end of FLCL.
15. Describe the physical appearance of Alphonse Elric.
BONUS! For 10 points, name all of the Homunculi who appear in the Season 1 opening of Fullmetal Alchemist. (Trick question alert! Trick question alert! Wee-oo-wee-oo-wee-oo!)
And that’s it. Answers will go up whenever I feel like it. It’ll probably depend on how many answers I get. Toodles, and enjoy your week.
Grondy’s going to fail his science exam... and his history exam... and his French exam... and his, um, what’s that other class? Whatever it is he’s going to fail it too.
Mad Mod’s not going to fail anything because he’s actually a good student.

Yes, I'm probably the only person, other than you, who understands that.
Wow, I know a lot of anime-isms.

It means the person's drunk. You only find this in Asian productions since this happens only to Asians (we lack a certain gene so we get really red when we have alcohol).

How do you know? Have you ever been underage drinking before?
grondring - December 13, 2004 03:07 AM (GMT)
What are you talking about?
Axem Titanium - December 13, 2004 03:11 AM (GMT)
I'm saying you wouldn't know that you don't get red because you haven't been drunk before... or have you!?!?!?!?!?
grondring - December 13, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
Who says I don't get red?
Axem Titanium - December 13, 2004 03:18 AM (GMT)
You used to did. Until you editted your post.
