Title: Evangelion

Karn - December 26, 2004 07:14 PM (GMT)
Who has seen it? I just got it and it is easily in my top three favorite animes already.

Axem Titanium - December 27, 2004 04:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah! Go Eva! The most heretical but awesome anime ever! (Grondy thinks it's slow for some unfathomable reason)

grondring - December 27, 2004 06:54 PM (GMT)
It. Is. Slow.

EDIT: Except for the battle scenes, which are crammed into spans of about two minutes and are, as such, unbearably quick.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 12:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah. A lot of the character development is slow, but you managed to watch .hack//Sign so Eva can't be that bad.

Exceeds - December 28, 2004 01:23 AM (GMT)
.hack// isnt nearly as good as Eva! Eva is sooooo good....the moves are great...

Fifth Fang - December 28, 2004 02:14 AM (GMT)
i haven't seen it...

Karn - December 28, 2004 03:54 AM (GMT)
Whoe movies, tell me more about these.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 05:32 AM (GMT)
Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion are the two movies that finish the series. Despite the happy ending of the last episode though, the two movies are incredibly depressing and I suggest you don't watch them unless you really want to know what happens. Knowing you (and me), you're going to watch them, get really depressed yet happy that you finished the series and jump off a cliff because there's nothing left to do in life after finishing Eva.

Fifth Fang - December 28, 2004 05:36 AM (GMT)
sounds...quite interesting?

Karn - December 28, 2004 05:43 PM (GMT)
I'm going to buy them off ebay. Evangelion is so good. It's only slightly worse than FLCL. Gainax is the best company ever.

grondring - December 28, 2004 08:30 PM (GMT)
... I'm so alone...

Karn - December 28, 2004 08:36 PM (GMT)
I can't believe you don't like Eva. I thought you would like it alot. I don't think the character development is slow. They made the characters so well in my opinion.

grondring - December 28, 2004 08:53 PM (GMT)
I shall refrain from my opinions of the characters in order to preserve my health.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 08:59 PM (GMT)
Don't worry. He won't brutally maim you. Much.

grondring - December 28, 2004 09:00 PM (GMT)
Oh yes, being maimed is so much better than being brutally maimed.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
Do it or we'll hurt you more.

grondring - December 28, 2004 09:03 PM (GMT)
Do what?

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 09:04 PM (GMT)
QUOTE (grondring @ Dec 28 2004, 03:53 PM)
I shall refrain from my opinions of the characters in order to preserve my health.

That.

Karn - December 28, 2004 09:10 PM (GMT)
I would like to hear your opinion.

grondring - December 28, 2004 09:13 PM (GMT)
Uh, what's that? It looks like my Internet's connection's breaking up. Too bad. Ah well... ^_^

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 09:40 PM (GMT)
We'll just have to hurt- I mean- ask him when and if he gets back.

grondring - December 28, 2004 10:09 PM (GMT)
...

Shinji: Typical insecure teenager.
Asuka: Loud and insecure.
Rei: Quiet and... quiet.

EDIT-

Gendo: Not nearly as cool as he could have been.
Misato: Loud and insecure.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 10:34 PM (GMT)
That's too shallow (in my opinion). Except for Shinji. He's a complete loser who is a nervous wreck. The others are too shallow of analyses.

grondring - December 28, 2004 10:37 PM (GMT)
They're shallow because (1) I always watch Eva late and, as such, don't put that much thought into it, and (2) how so?

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 10:55 PM (GMT)
You just explained something you weren't sure about.

I'll show you not shallow.

Shinji: You can't un-shallow a shallow character. What I said about him before is my analysis of him.

Asuka: She's one of the depressed characters (I mean, really. Not only does her mother think a little doll is her daughter, she commits suicide and kills the doll too). She compensates for her sadness by being loud and obnoxious to others. I have no clue what she sees in Shinji. Maybe she's crazy too. She depends on attention to survive.

Rei: She's the most depressing of all the characters. She dies three friggin' times! And her husband has affairs with like all of her co-workers! And on top of that, she's not even alive anymore and a whole ton of other crap. (Spoiler. Highlight to read.) No wonder she's quiet.

Gendo: He's also pretty shallow. Boohoo. My wife died. I'm going to break the laws of Alchemy and try to revive her by instigating Third Impact and killing everyone else in exchange. He's also a cold heartless <blocked>. Good riddance.

Misato: Y'know, Eva has a lot of depressed people, doesn't it? She's rash and hasty in her decisions and does a lot of stupid stuff. If blonde were a valid hair color for Japanese people, she would be a dumb blonde. Somehow, her rashness serves her well while commanding the Evas though. Anyway, she's trying to bury her past (like a lot of anime characters) by showing off like Asuka.

grondring - December 28, 2004 11:01 PM (GMT)
Asuka: Didn't see that part yet.

Rei: Didn't see that part yet.

Gendo: Didn't see that part yet.

Misato: Didn't see that part yet.

Whoever says ignorance is no defense is an idiot.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 11:04 PM (GMT)
You saw enough for Asuka and Misato.

grondring - December 28, 2004 11:06 PM (GMT)
I didn't see the doll part or even Asuka's mother, and I don't remember any flashbacks about Misato's past.

Axem Titanium - December 28, 2004 11:09 PM (GMT)
You know they're insecure about something.

Anyway, go see it then.

grondring - December 28, 2004 11:11 PM (GMT)
But that's work...

Karn - December 29, 2004 12:44 AM (GMT)
Evangelion gets better as it goes on. The end is my favorite end in any anime I've ever seen. You learn alot more about the characters later, I suggest whatching it.

grondring - December 29, 2004 01:11 AM (GMT)
It shall be done.

Karn - December 29, 2004 01:13 AM (GMT)
Are you going to buy it?

grondring - December 29, 2004 01:16 AM (GMT)
AT "voluntarily" "lent" the whole series to me. I don't need to buy it.

Karn - December 29, 2004 01:21 AM (GMT)
Ic.

grondring - December 29, 2004 01:22 AM (GMT)
I'm sure you do.

EDIT: Okay, I just watched the last episode of Eva, and as a result I'm bumping "42" a week forward in my article schedule because I just need to write something about Eva now...

Axem Titanium - December 31, 2004 03:13 AM (GMT)
Don't watch Death and Rebirth yet. *thinks* Excellent, my plan is coming together.

grondring - December 31, 2004 03:14 AM (GMT)
Let me guess; your plan is for me not to watch Death and Rebirth, thus preserving my comprehension and liking of Evangelion, and then to give it a good review in my column, leading more people to watch it?

Axem Titanium - December 31, 2004 03:22 AM (GMT)
No, I'm doing a psychoanalysis of people before and after watching Death and Rebirth.

Karn - December 31, 2004 03:23 AM (GMT)
Have you analyzed me yet?
