Title: Eragon...
Description: Is it any good?

Ilhan - January 8, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
I got the book Eragon for Christmas, but haven't started reading it yet (Still working on HHGttG). Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has read this, and if so, if it was good or not. Thank you.

grondring - January 8, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
I've always meant to, but I couldn't bring myself to read a book that had a picture of a donkey-like dragon on the cover.

Ilhan - January 8, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
Yeah...That was the first thing that stuck in my mind when I opened it. Donkey-Dragon....Judging a book by it's cover now?

grondring - January 8, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
Yes. Sorry. But to be fair I did read the inside flap too, and it didn't exactly leave a favorable impression with me. I dislike overt romanticizing of fantasy stalwarts, which is why I despise Anne Rice with a passion. (Seriously, someday she's actually going to meet a vampire and try to make friends with it, and it's going to turn her into a ghoul.)

Actually, dragons are rather an exception, because while not generally benevolent, neither are they wholly malevolent, so I suppose Eragon's not that bad.

I guess the only reason I haven't read it is I really don't feel like it.

eragon is a great book, just take the cover thing off, its cool he kills so much stuff in the end its kinda funny.

grondring - January 9, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)

Durendal - January 9, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)

Axem Titanium - January 9, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
Uhhh... who's that?

'Ivan - January 9, 2005 03:19 AM (GMT)
The two copies of Eragon are always gone in my school library, and I'm too lazy to go and put my name on the waiting list PLUS I'm already on book #7 out of 19 for the Robotech series, why stop now? I was going to even read Sabriel/Lirae/The other one in the middle.

Axem Titanium - January 9, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
Sabriel, Lireal and Abhorsen? (Lireal is the middle one.)

I haven't read them either.

'Ivan - January 9, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
Yes! By Garth Nix. I haven't really seen much anyone else check out those books, so I thought that I might take a shot at them. I've got until January 31st, 2005 to read Sabriel.

I could have sworn it was Lirae.

I also just got Eragon for Christmas and havn't started it yet, I'm working on The Last Unicorn. I've heard it was good though.

Axem Titanium - January 9, 2005 03:42 AM (GMT)
Uhhh... January 1st was almost a week ago...

'Ivan - January 9, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
31st, right . . .

Ehehe, I've never heard of The Last Unicorn, seriously.

Karn - January 9, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
It is a great book.

'Ivan - January 9, 2005 04:08 AM (GMT)
I think I remember my cousin having a VHS video of some Disney-ified version of The Last Unicorn, but I'm not sure.

Axem Titanium - January 9, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
Try The Eighth. I'm reading it right now. It's based on chess so it has to be good.

What? A book based on chess? What is it?

Axem Titanium - January 10, 2005 02:08 AM (GMT)
It's a novel. It's sort of like the Da Vinci Code but I haven't read enough of it to compare them yet.

Fifth Fang - January 11, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
Read Eragon.
it's probably the best book i've ever read.
(i've read a heckload of books)

Durendal - January 11, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)

Axem Titanium - January 12, 2005 01:30 AM (GMT)

strikeraider827 - January 12, 2005 01:48 AM (GMT)

Axem Titanium - January 12, 2005 01:54 AM (GMT)
Good. The illiterate man is the least tactful.

Fifth Fang - January 12, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)

i've looked at those books.
i wasn't that interested...
sounded like a dull plot.

DranzerTheDestroyer - January 12, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
I love this book, I bought it a book fair at my school and I was in love with it within the first few pages...

Fifth Fang - January 13, 2005 01:40 AM (GMT)

Durendal - January 13, 2005 01:47 AM (GMT)
FF what sounded like a dull plot? The Keys to the Kingdom series? or The Old Kingdom series?

Kyrillos - January 13, 2005 02:35 AM (GMT)
I have my preferences and they are:

Starfist>Pern>Wheel of Time>Bean's story in Ender's game> Ender's Stroy>Everything else I've read.

Fifth Fang - January 13, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
the one with like "Terrible Tuesday" "Mean Monday"?

Axem Titanium - January 13, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday, Drowned Wednesday, Sir Thursday, Something Friday, Something Saturday, Lord Sunday.

grondring - January 13, 2005 04:07 AM (GMT)
So far my favorite evil day has to be Grim Tuesday. "The Grim" is just an awesome title.

To DranzerTheDestroyer: Same, except with Bartimaeus Trilogy.

Fifth Fang - January 13, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
