I vote SNES. The Super Nintendo was good, it had the classic Mario games which I still think are better than the 3D ones. I like 2D games more than 3D ones. Lots of classic games that were good, and it's games were much more challenging.

GC is the second, because SSBM is the best game ever made in my opinion.

Yeah, I suppose putting the 3rd generation consoles (PS2, Xbox, GC) with the 2nd generation wasn't such a good idea . . .

SNES had a LOT of good games. Mmm....Earthbound.

Super Smash Bros Melee? That sucked! The graphics stink, the music is annoying, and the gameplay is repetative and boring. Plus, there are too few characters in it. 50+ is what I want!

Too few characters!?! There's got to be at least 18!

SSBM is really a game that relies on having a lot of friends to play with. It's not really boring, then. Yes, it's single player is mediocre So, Strike, you think it's boring because . . . . ?

Durendal - January 30, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
nah man SuperNes is the way to go, MegamanX was the best megaman game of all time.

Mm, I preferred the classic series to the X series even though the classic series were SO MUCH FRIGGIN' HARDER.

(CURSE YOU BLOCK PUZZLES, CURRRRRSE YOOOOOU!)

Even with a lot of friends, it's still boring because eveyone uses on of four characters: Link, Young Link, Fox, or Roy. Why those four? Because some people thing they are superior. And in the original, who was the best? Ness. Who sucks in SSBM? Ness.

Says who!? I personally use Pikachu and Pichu. <_< >_>

Durendal - January 30, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)

Malkav - January 30, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
Everyone uses those four?
If you want we can look to the tournament tiers. The strongest characters are Captain Falcon, Falco, Fox, Marth, Sheik and Peach. No contest. If you think the game is repetative it is only because you have not mastered any of the advanced moves, of which there are tons, and they create intense fast paced matches. Lastly, in regards to music, there is this one song called Balloon Fight....

Balloon Fight is the best song ever made by man.

Oh yeah, and Durendal, I use Marth and Mario too :P

Most people use those characters!

Karn - January 30, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
*Cough cough* Time to defend SSBM.

Their are 24 characters. Their is a tier system as well, based on attack priority. Some characters are better than others and that is why in tournies, there are some that are low tier and some that are high tier.

Fox, Marth, and Sheik are Tier one. (Best)

Samus, Mario, Doc, Falco, CF, and Ganon are Tier Two.

Link, Roy, and Pikachu are Tier Three.

Yoshi, Zelda, and Young Link are Tier four.

Everyone else is in Tier Five and Six.

Usually when playing with good players you will play the same tier as the other person, to keep it fair.

Boring? I've been playing for 5 years and I still have not mastered it. I'm sure you think it is repetitive because you know nothing about wavedashing, L-cancelling, or even short-hopping. SSBM in my opinion is the most skill intensive game ever made.

no, because I don't study everything I can find on the damned game. I don't obsess.

Karn - January 30, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
Well I do. But even without that, their are so many more dimensions to it than a normal fighter like Tekken, or another platform fighter.

Kiyoshi - January 30, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
SSBM was cool until you beat the game (all 51 event matches all 1 player modes with all the characters and gotten all the characters) then it is boring... that's one of the reasons i voted PS2.

strikeraider827 - January 30, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
In the defense of Gamecube, I will say three things: FE9, ToS, and Custom Robo. nuff said.

Thank you for clarifying for me after so long that the new GBA FE is FE8 and the new GC one is FE9. Honestly, I've been asking . . .

A CONSOLE. PCs are in a league of their own, with the right equipment (and tons of money to get the equipment), computers are the most POWERFUL gaming system ever, so it's not in there. I would have voted PC too, you know.

The Entertainer - January 31, 2005 09:59 PM (GMT)
Xbox is the most POWERFUL console. And Halo 2 owns SSBM anyday.

Karn - January 31, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
There are much less mechanics to learn in Halo. It takes strategy yes, but it doesn't rely on reflexes as much as SSBM. SSBM is more skill intensive in my opinion.

The Entertainer - January 31, 2005 10:20 PM (GMT)
Hehe... try dodging a rocket launcher in a banshee. Then you'll know what intensive really means ;)

But anyways, graphic-wise, sound-effect wise, basically every non-opinion factor of a game... Halo 2/1 blows SSBM out of the water :)

An Xbox IS a kind of computer.

Edit: Nevermind, you said console. Yes, the Xbox technically is the most powerful console at the moment.

The Entertainer - January 31, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Mhhhm. AND has the most online games. AND the best online service...

Axem Titanium - January 31, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
PSP is technologically the most advanced.

The Entertainer - January 31, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
Maybe... but Xbox still has better graphics capabilities.

And besides... read the topic :P

I favor SSBM's graphics, because it is a very light game.

Sound effects? Nintendo games have the best soundtracks, and all in one game equels pwnage.

I bet it would take you at least a month to learn how to do a wavdash into a shine, wavedash out of it, shorthop to a backwards A, and then L-cancel that. That is much more skill intensive IMO.

Everything though is opionated so there isn't much of a point to this argument.

Axem Titanium - January 31, 2005 11:32 PM (GMT)
PSP has better graphics too, since it has a better engine.
