Title: Hurricane Katrina!!!
Description: WOW

jordiwordi101 - August 29, 2005 01:45 PM (GMT)
This hurricane is HUGE! The sucky thing is that it is going over New Orleans. New Orleans is twelve feet below sea level and there are levies(Spelling?) that are holding water back a little bit. There is supposed to be a 20 ft. water surge, so there is a huge chance that the water will go over the levies. They also say that after the storm it will take 6 MONTHS for them to pump all the water out of New Orleans. This is crazy. Sure glad I'm not there. I also hope that no one on this site is there. How bout your thoughts?

Destin - August 29, 2005 01:49 PM (GMT)
All I can say is that I hope everyone in New Orleans will be alright and can hopefully get out of there when/if the madness occurs.

sara13987 - August 29, 2005 01:49 PM (GMT)
This reminds me of "The Day After Tomorrow" for some reason...

And part of the Superdome roof just peeled away... It's so horrible...

I heard that the storm is going to move all up the USA, and, then, it might refuel some over the Great Lakes...

I heard it would reach the east coast, but it would only be a catagory one hurricane. That would suck if it builds up at the Great Lakes. It was scary last night because there are 10,000 people in the superdome and they said that they don't know if the roof can withstand the pressure. What if the roof just suddenly flies off? *shudder* Hope they're allright.

sara13987 - August 29, 2005 01:58 PM (GMT)
Either way, NL get the side effects. -_-

Apparently there are quadrants outside of the football field, that they're moving people to now.

myles_master - August 29, 2005 02:31 PM (GMT)
I just heard that a roof off of a hotel hit an appartment building. There were people inside and they are trapped. The police can't do anything though.

and now it just said that one of the levees is cracking. People are not supposed to drink the water because of the levee and debree contaminating it. It's really bad down there.

EDIT- This reporter guy is standing in Mobile, AL and the roads are flooded up to his knees. There's more water there than in New Orleans! It looked really bad!

What!?!

sara13987 - August 29, 2005 03:30 PM (GMT)
That's what they said last night, but it's changed direction since then, so I doubt that'll happen anymore. Still, though. It's a kind of scary thought.

It's weird. There's so much emphacise (sp?) on Katrina, that they're not paying any attention to another tropical depression forming off the South American coast.

myles_master - August 29, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)
Katrina is now only a level 3 and it was a level 5 last night. It went down a lot. Part of the levee is broken in the French Quarter and the eye is just going over mississippi.

I wonder if it'll ever promote. I hope not... ( )

jordiwordi101 - August 29, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
It doesn't seem to be as bad now. I read on the news that the roof of the superdome was leaking and the membrane of the roof is completely gone. The prices of fuel will sky rocket too. This sucks since today im turning 16 and I won't be able to drive anywhere as much. :(

sara13987 - August 29, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
Oh. I've turned off the TV a while ago. Too much disaster does stuff to my mood. -_-

Gas prices are already through the roof, here.

$5.20/gallon, or, $1.17 a litre. That was yesterday when I checked. It's supposed to go up to $1.22/litre tomorrow. *sigh*

Okiro - August 29, 2005 06:58 PM (GMT)
I've been watching it,and I'm kinda glad it was less powerful,I heard the rumors that it would be category 1 when it hit Ohio, and I was kinda scared. It would be dangerous, winds of around 100 mph.... I hope she comes as a tropicial storm,as Ivan did. And Jeane (spelling?I've seen it differant ways) I think...

And I wouldn't want to be in the superdome,I figured Katrina would hit as category 5 and tear it to shreads, but I don't think she'll get stronger over the great lakes, they'd be to cold for much power.

Gas prices are already high enough, that's bad...luckily I'm not gonna be driving for a while.

asdfgh2004 - August 29, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
Well I wasn't affected that bad. I feel super bad for the New Orleans.
In my community a few trees fell down and I lost power.

vashies - August 30, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
i hope the people in new orleans are all right ='( all we got in texas was some rain

Dragon_Tam3r - August 30, 2005 12:16 AM (GMT)
Where in texas, i live in san antonio and we got like a gentle breeze and that proablly had nothing to do with the hurricane XD

sara13987 - August 30, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
It was raining and windy-ing here too, wow. :o

Well, as bad as the storm was, at least it only lasted a day, right? That's one of the blessings...

Kyrillos - August 30, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
No Mardi Gras this year folks....

jordiwordi101 - August 30, 2005 01:45 PM (GMT)
Well, now the hurricane has done its damage. 80% of New Orleans is under water, and about 800,000 people w/out power. I am lucky i was nowhere near it. Part of the levie broke and water is constantly flowing in to the city. If I heard things of the other towns I'd mention it too, but I havn't. This is going to take a while to clean up :( Yes I agree that gas is high, I'm saying it's goin to get HIGHER. This is bad. I hope everything is getting better instead of worse down there.

sara13987 - September 2, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
Alright, I officially hate Katrina. This morning, the gas prices went up 20 cents a litre. Now, they're 137.9 cents a litre. <_<

Esgalglinion - September 2, 2005 07:55 PM (GMT)
You officially hate Katrina because the gas prizes got higher? Some newspapers over here there is over thousand dead.

sara13987 - September 2, 2005 07:57 PM (GMT)
I officially hate it now. Before, it was un-official. Apparently, gas prices are going up another 20 cents on the 15th, too. God, my family's gonna go broke. -_-

Yes, so I've heard. There's also going to be a few telethons to raise money for the surivivors or something.

myles_master - September 2, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
Yea. There is a lot of stuff going on. Apparently there are supposed to be gators and snakes and other dangerous animals in the water and there's nothing to do about it.

Hmph. . . This makes me pissed. What's so bad? The people in lousiana SHOT at FEMA workers, when the were trying to help them. Second, Canada, Britain, and EVEN Russia offered the US food, water, fuel, soldiers, etc and Bush TURNED THEM AWAY. What the fuck? This is proof that he is an idiot. Third, it has taken them a week to send a ship down to help. A fucking week! And there even more that angers me, and I can't even think straight.

jordiwordi101 - September 2, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
We can all say that it is getting bad down there. People are stealing, murdering, and even raping. Thats what I heard. People are getting all angry because we're are not helping. What can we do other than send money. I don't live anywhere near there and I can't do anything except lend some money. I just feel so angry at all this. I never heard that bush turned russia and the others away, though.

Angry because we're not helping? We are helping. We sent help. They tried to kill the help!

Also, Bush doesn't want any help from other countries, he thinks we're good enough to solve everyone elses problems and butt in, but when the US is in trouble, he doesn't want it! I want to blow his fucking head off!

myles_master - September 2, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
I never heard that!!! That's nuts.

Thats what I was trying to say. I get so angry at the people in New Orleans screaming "WE WANT HELP." I am trying to say that everyone is, hopefully, trying thier best to help them and they don't see it.

This is a litre, not a gallon. It was over 500 cents a gallon before the whole increase. And, it's going up 17 cents tonight, not on the 15th. Maybe it'll happen both. I unno.

Really? Geez, I'd want help in such a situation.

Alex - September 2, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
Gas is 3 dollars a gallon here. O_o;.

sara13987 - September 2, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
Mom says, after tonight, 6 bucks a gallon. And, we can't compromise using the car, cause we live too far away from town to walk or bike... *sigh*

I didn't know about the people refusing help. Hell, I didn't know Canada offered it, although it is a very Canadian thing to do. B)

:P

Alex - September 2, 2005 11:58 PM (GMT)
6 bucks a gallon? O_o That's one big-ass price. O_o

USA's gas was the cheapest a month ago. Now I'm not so sure.

We produce 4% of the world's gas, but we use 75%+ of the world's gas.

PlatinumPimp - September 3, 2005 12:51 AM (GMT)
This really pisses me off how 90 % of the people left in new orleans was black. I want bush dead right about now, he was acted way to slow when this happened probably because alot of the population of NEw orleans is black and bush only got little votes from minorities. This racist B**** should be taken out of office all he has done is make bad decisions, i mean why the hell did he invade iraq? I hope someone blows his f***** head off.

Kaden - September 3, 2005 12:54 AM (GMT)
Uh, the black people are the ones keeping people from being rescued (no offense or anything.) I mean, they're freakin shooting at the rescue choppers...

PlatinumPimp - September 3, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
Well yea its because of what happened. read the newpaper it states what i said, also george bush is a racist redneck. Bush should of acted alot quicker than he did what the hell is wrong with that guy, he is such a idiot.

Kaden - September 3, 2005 12:59 AM (GMT)
I totally agree with you there...
