Title: Baptism

I will find the topic that this disscution came from laiter, but here is the coclution that I came upon after studing Biblical baptism.

I will not quote the verse (for now) I dont like typing. but I will list the verse then talk about the verse

Matt:3:11
John's baptism presupposed repentance, and John would not baptise the pharisees and the sadducees becasue they fail to give any evidence of repentance.

Mark 1:4
Baptism is always preceded or with repentance never without

acts 2:38
Baptism symbolises the forgiveness we recieved when we repented

Acts 8:37-38
Philip made sur that the man beleived and was repentain before philip would baptize him.
1st peter 3:20-21
Being baptized alone does not save you, for baptism is a symol of the pleadge that we have made to God.

Conclusion on baptism
Baptism is a symbo of the clensin of your sins that you recive when you repent. Baptism does not clense you of your sins. you must repent before being baptized; otherwise, the baptism is pointless.
Repenting is a choice; you must decide to repent. An infand cannot understand why he/she needs to or what is repentanse; therefore, infant baptism is in vain

that would look SO much better if you proofreaded or spellchecked it. SO much better.

anyway, anything on infant batism?

Look, you haven't understood a word I said on this subject, have you?

Because of Adam and Eve, we are all born with "original sin", or, the sin of not listening to God. In this age, there are diseases which kill infants before they commit any sins. If the original sin is not forgiven, and a baby dies, do you think it is honestly fair that the baby, which hasn't done much of anything yet, might end up punished for a sin they have not commited? Think about it, honestly.

As for the rest of the children, the same is pretty much intact. Children, nowadays, can be kidnapped, murdered, or enter life-threatening situations at the turn of a dime. If I was a parent, I wouldn't want my kid going around bearing a sin for something they did not commit, and perhaps being held accountable for it!

Also, due to your huge emphasise on "repentance", answer me this: How can you be sorry for something you did not do?

*is tempted to close this topic*

Honestly, these topics are pretty pointless, I'll let it stay open for now.. But don't let it get "nasty". <_<

infant baptism means nothing (Biblicaly speaking)

as for the death of a child. I have not studied in depth about that yet, but I have found that there is a range of time where the child will not be held accountable for sin. that doesnt mean he doesnt have sin; It means God will not hold the child accountable for sin untill the child has reached that point in life.

@ sara - you don't have to ask forgiveness for something you didn't do, you have to ask forgiveness for what you did do. where do you get this idea?

Original sin! Adam and Eve commited it, and we inherit it, even though we did nothing, ourselves! You're proving my point!

LoZfan03 - August 31, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
why do you think we think you need to ask forgivenees for that? I know that I never said that.

what I did say (or at least someone did) is that the original sin is what compells us to sin. all the times that children, no matter their size or age, have dishonored their parents is sin. what we must ask forgiveness for is the sin that we have committed.

@ aiscool - where is that verse about the 'age of innocence' or something like that? I think that would help here.
