Hi Jewel.
There are a couple of choices.First, it seems like yr budget of 300 million sounds good. So i suppose u getting a brand new type? Cabinet? U can go to yr sis, Juwel,ahahah...Juwel has a lot of nice cabinet tanks, but they dont come cheap.
You have to try various larger lfs, like Rainbow(who has a large variety of tanks to choose from). Or even Qianhu. But these places , again, dont come cheap as well.
For your cannister, if you are willing to shell out 200 million for it, i wouild suggest u can get stuff like Ehiem. Jebao may offer something very similar, for a very cheap price, but Jebao has no spare parts.Anything damged, and sayonara.
http://www.singaporetropicalfish.com/http://www.aquarium-supplies.co.uk/juwel_tanks.htmThe second link will do a lot for yr reasearch. I know there is a Juwel shop at Geylang i think.

horkay
i bought a 2.5ft tank, with normal stand etc (didnt get those juwel types) + cover etc etc...all $160.
once it's delivered, i get my fishy over...will post pics :)
is there anything i should get to move fishy? i remember seeing some sort of chemicals for moving fish to lower stress level...
u think fish shops will give me those large plastic bags to transport fishes for free? :P where can get har?
dinosor - July 26, 2004 08:57 AM (GMT)
go lfs tell them give u 1 plastic bag. or gek siao buy 1 net or food ah.. then say can i have a big plastic bag..haha..
u mean u bought 2-teir or only 1 tank?
2.5feet ah.. wow.. song man..
160 u mean is for the new tank or u mean the juwel type?
King Almond - July 26, 2004 11:19 AM (GMT)
Hi Jewel,
Get 2 layers of plastic bag. Use newspaper to cover the first bag's bottom(uch that the fish cant see anything, and wunt be stressed)
Try to use back the water in the old tank, as much as possible, since you are upgrading. thumb of rule is at least half to 3/4 of the new tank. Add in a bit more salt than usual, and if you are using Aquaplus, squirt a bit more than usual.
You have a new tank set up, and It is very important to make sure it is ready, before you put anything in. What is the filter you are using now?
jewel - July 26, 2004 11:19 AM (GMT)
no lor, nv buy the juwel types coz there weren't many in the first place. They are also expensive for a small space. rather upgrade the size...everything cost me $160 - stand, tank, filter, cover...
1 tier 1 tank....
King Almond - July 26, 2004 11:23 AM (GMT)
Lucky lh you have..most females get dumped in the long kang liao.
jewel - July 26, 2004 11:27 AM (GMT)
yup, will get 2 layers definitely...
is newspaper a good idea? my fish hates the newspapers...really...maybe just white paper....i'm so scared my fish will get agitated and very stressed - sigh...can be very fierce....and could it actually be better if i leave the view clear? cover up better meh?
yup, i'll try to get some of the old water to the new tank...and cycle the tank ahead...they are actually making the tank for me and will deliver it maybe wed? how long will i need for it to settle as i heard the silica may emit poisons...???! i'm moving this sun...at most, i leave my fish to be moved later...
i just use normal aquarium salt....and normal submissible pump...got back the same type of pump...

ya, the lucky little devil dunno how lucky it is...i fought very hard to have it at the new house...my parents keep asking me to throw it away...somemore get new tank...now it better survive to the new house...so i'll hv to make sure the transporting goes fine... <_<
King Almond - July 26, 2004 11:38 AM (GMT)
Use newspaper. even horses do that( the bredders cover their eyes, so as not to make them scared). It will greatly reduce the stress level upon transporting.
For your cycling, since you do not have ceramic or any filteer media like Biohome, it canbe a bit of a headache to cycle new tanks. When i changed my 2 ft tanks, I simply made sure the new tank is at least half filled with the old water. and transferred my old filter media too. There was one tank where I had only 1/4. thus, I added 1/4 of new water and leave it - 1/2 filled only. Along the days, i slowly add in some water, tll it reaches 1 week. Then i did another water change, and viola~~~~ all has been fine.
If not, you will take 3 weeks to a month. It can be very tricky, man man lai..
jewel - July 26, 2004 11:43 AM (GMT)
orh, i know wat u mean...i got abt 2-3 layers of the cotton - could i remove one and mix with new ones at the new tank? then take some of the gravel from the tank to place at the new tank?
will tat help?
dinosor - July 26, 2004 01:20 PM (GMT)
jewel, use back everything u have in your fish tank..
actually ah.. u no nid to do so many things..
u see when u buy fish at fish shop , they also never do anything ma..
don need to add anything la.. luohan hardy.. just condition them when u reach yr new home.. pour in water in the bag for every 15mins.. for 3 to 5 times. then slowly release into your tank.. can already..
King Almond - July 26, 2004 03:56 PM (GMT)
It is up to you to decide. May a times, many hobbyists ignore what is best, only to regret later and start treating the fish. Luohan may be hardy, but how do you know they arent feeling uncomfortable? Since you can fork out the 4 to buy a new home, why compromise at this little effort? ;)
dinosor - July 27, 2004 05:27 AM (GMT)
just a while ma..
if this a while the fish also fall sick then jia lat..
but will not la..
fish shop pack fish also never do extra work.. hahaha..
King Almond - July 27, 2004 05:47 AM (GMT)
