dinosor - September 22, 2004 09:14 AM (GMT)
hi anyone can tell me about this..
a nearby lfs lent me their digital camera ..
but i dunno how to take a nice pic..
anyone can suggest?? esc.jewel.. haha..
how to take the pic without reflection of ourself? etc etc..

thanks thanks

1st: no flash.
unless you hv a more sophisticated flash that allows you to bounce the light.
if you absolutely need flash, try to shoot at an angle so that you wun have one bright white spot right in the middle of your picture.
2nd: have the room as bright as possible. Or you can try switching on the aquarium light.
3rd: since you using digital, set to sports mode, or use Tv mode, and switch the ISO to the highest available.
4th: try not to take the fish when it's swimming. Be a bit more patient and shoot when it momentarily comes to a rest. gotta keep trying.
erm, tat's abt all. You try shooting then let us know what probs u encounter. depends on your camera oso...

I am quite new to photography too. But there are some pointers which I think is helpful.
Flash
As per mentioned by jewel, avoid using the flash. If it must be used, you should shot from an angle from the glass of the tank to avoid reflection. Also, it may help if you diffuse it with some opaque material.
Lighting
Fish tank may look ok but our aquarium lighting is not good enough for the camera. Extra lighting is needed to brighten it up. The room should be dark.
ISO
Unless you are using high end cameras, anything from ISO 200 and above will result in noise. This is due to the current technology for consumer level digital cameras. Try to stick to ISO 50 or 100 most of the time.
Aperture/Shutter speed
These are always inversely used. Larger aperture will be using faster shutter speed and vice versa. Shutter speed should be decreased to capture movements, if your tank is not bright enough then this will not be an option for you. Instead you should be using aperture-priority to get enough exposure.
That's all for a start. Have fun and take lots of pictures.
