Description: got food?

Just wondering, has anyone feed there FH anything weird?.. Flys, roaches ect?
I can get fresh breed clean flys still in there shell. These are breed to feed other animals (not fish) which are mass produced and are even clean enough for humans to eat them if you really wanted to.
At the moment i am just feeding my FH's off brimp shrimp and pallets. I want them to try something else. What do you feed your fish?

I do feed my flowerhorn with guppies that I have breeded. My guppies ate mosquito larvae that I harvest from mosquito nest that I made (mosquitoes like to lay their eggs in clean stagnant water rather than others). I place this in the garden and visited every week. When I have seen pupas, I then harvest this and treat this in a solution to kill viruses, bacterias etc. I then put this in the fish pan with my guppies. The fishpan water is also treated. I harvest guppies that are 2-3 inches long. I put back the others because bigger guppies lay more eggs with out dying and smaller guppies are hard to be caught by my FH. I put many green cabombas in my fishpan for the baby guppies not to be eaten by bigger ones. larvaes cannot hide from this because small guppies that do not harm babies can enter the cabombas and eat them. Thus creating my own food chain. I do this to lessen dengue incidence in my country. I really think of this to help others so as getting benefits from it. Sounds good. I do not encounter any problems with my technic and on the contrary I was surprise to notice that my guppies grows two times faster thus giving more food for my FH. When there is enough food, my FH too grows fast than what I have been expected. I prove this because I am caring fishes and later the FH since I was in grade one and now I'm a highschool graduating student. But still, I do not seek professional assistance until now. I just read books on how to treat aquarium water. I need plenty of info about FH because I have to make a webpage about FH for my final project. I want to make the best page for FH lovers. Can anybody help me? My most used add is Mr_Red_Ace@yahoo.com. ;)

These flys i can get are breed properly, not a fly from the garden or something, These are clean flys. Clean enough for humans to eat. As i said, these flys (bugs) are breed to feed other living creatures, snakes ect. I can get alot of insects from this play to us as feeder fish..

Hi
Roaches ah. I read in a forum b4. Roaches ah is not so good. Coz they might carry diseases. Or even worse pesticide. So not so safe ler. Stick to traditional cricket lar. Seems to be very good. Last time my big LH takes cricket once ina while. But now the fries still so small not to say cricket. Prawn must also cut into dunno how many pieces only can eat

i try not to feed the flowerhorn live feed, especially those feeder fishes that are bought from the LFS.

but if it is self-bred and the condition which the fries are in is good. i think it is okay.

anyway, flowerhorns eat almost anything. :P

i have done that as well many years ago with my aro. But it is very disgusting to see the aro eat the lizard cos all the blood will spill out and the water becomes very dirty.

fishes fed with live food esp like lizard which contain blood will have nice colouration.
